please move to the section of the device where you the the time and look for a symbol with 12 associated with it. You might have to scroll through for a few seconds before you see it but usually selecting that symbol updates the time-format of your device so that you don't have to use "army" time anymore.
Setting the 12/24 time format The 12 hour format is set as the default. To change the 12/24 hour time format, open the CONTROL COMPARTMENT COVER on the bottom of the clock and adjust the 12/24 TIME FORMAT switch to the desired format. Close the CONTROL COMPARTMENT COVER.
As much as it sucks to do, you have to reset the base and the temperature sensor. When you do it, keep the temp sensor next to the base until the base recognizes it.
Hold down the button labelled 24hOFF for several seconds, the alarm hour digits will flash, adjust using up down arrow buttons and change to minutes by pressing 24h button again. Plus your manual is below.
