New unit has loud noise & doesn't drain. Too late to return!

I bought a Boston Innovative Products 12000 BTU portable AC unit at Big Lots. But it is way past the return date at the store, and I just found out that BPI has gone out of business also.
The unit makes a horribly loud constant sound for about 30 minutes both times it has been on, then it gradually goes away. Any Ideas what is wrong?
Also, there is no water draining out of the unit into the drain pan. I feel water if I stick my finger into the drain hose end, but nothing comes out. Again, any ideas?
Thank you so much to anyone who takes the time to help me out.

Thanks for your reply. My brother told me something about the oil.and it sitting too long. It is mainly noisy for a short time when I first start it up. The drain line isn't kinked though, so why I don't have water in the drain pan is beyond me.

I have an Amcor Portable Ac 12000 BTU and it keeps shuttig off due to condesation. I drain the unit ;but it only lasts for about 20 mins of run time before it shuts off again.Whats wrong with this?

Unit is not draining properly and only works when there is no condensate in the pan. The latter could have a clogged drain hole - check for that and clear if applicable.

Have lost my manual for the designer 12000. can't tell what each button does-

Here is a link to what I believe is the Owner's Manual for your unit. You didn't mention the Model Number, so I all I had to go on was the BTU Output and the color. Never the less, all Danby Portable AC Units work the same way.

Danby ALSO does not cool 3 days old

Take it back where you bought it. A 12,000 BTU unit should be more than enough for a 192 square foot room, so there is some problem with the unit.
