Pinterest everything I am having problems with the top thread breaking off from the needle and I have to try to rethread the needle many times. I am not sure if this is a bobbin issue, or a top thread problem. But I really need help on this, and pictures would be nice as to where I do this adjustment please! Thank-you

Try a different brand of thread. AVOID old or bargain bin thread.

When the thread breaks is an indication of the problem. If it breaks after sewing a couple inches, the top thread is probably not threaded correctly...when it happens on my machine, the thread is sometimes looped around the spool pin or hanging up on the thread slit in the spool. Pay attention to when the thread breaks. If it shreds/frays before breaking, the thread is encountering a rough spot somewhere in the thread path or it could be coarse fabric. Changing the type of needle (like a top stitch needle) may help, or perhaps the thread is too thick for the needle's eye--try a larger needle.

I would change the needle because sometimes there is a burr inside the eye of the needle. Now when you rethread, make sure that your presser foot is up, and then pull on the thread to make sure that the thread is seated in all of the guides.

SOURCE: thread bunches up under the fabric

my solution was to take the sewing machine to a repair shop where I found out it would be about $126.00 to fix it so am just throwing it away and buying a different brand of machine

SOURCE: The bobbin thread is sewing loose stitches and

Always have the presser foot up when you thead any sewing machine.

Make sure the flat side of the needle shaft is facing to the back of the machine.

Don't do anything to the bobbin tension. Set the top thread tension to what is recommended by the mfg.

Make sure the thread from the bobbin is feeding from the bobbin in the correct direction and through the correct guides.

After inserting the bobbin and threading the machine, lower the needle (hold on to the thread tail) and then raise it by turning the hand wheel by hand to pull up the bobbin thread.

Gently pull the two threads under the presser foot and to the back of the sewing machine before you begin to sew.

SOURCE: bottom thread too loose; tried

Check for correct bottom thread tension.
It's provided by a flat spring on the bobbin holder.
When the bobbin is correctly installed, pulling on the thread
should meet with slight resistance, and the bobbin should spin without
trying to jump out of the bobbin holder.

It sounds like your timing is in need of adjustment and unfortunately you need special tools and know how. So, you have to take it in for service.

Check and rethread upper thread Brother innov is v7 error message

If the display reads "Check and rethread upper thread", follow the steps below to resolve the issue:
1. Upper thread may be broken.
2. Upper thread may be caught on the spool on top of the machine.
3. Upper thread spool may have run out of thread.
4. Replace the needle in the machine with a new needle.
5. Your needle could be bent or burred causing the thread to break.
6. Check that you are using the correct size thread.
- If embroidering, use 40/50 machine embroidery thread on top and 60 weight in bobbin only.
Turn your machine off and rethread the machine from the start.

Upper thread breaks when using sensormatic free motion setting

Difficult to say. When and the manner in which the thread breaks will indicate the problem. Remove the top thread completely from the machine and rethread from the beginning. Try using a top-stitch needle. Might also try different brand of thread.

My top thread keeps breaking~ I have been using this machine for some time and this is the first I have experienced this! am pretty confident I am threading it correctly!

Depends how/when it is breaking? After sewing an inch or two? Is it shredding and then breaking?

Clean under the needle plate and in the bobbin area.
Install a brand new needle.
Remove the top thread from the machine. (Sometimes removing the thread will reveal the problem.)
Try a different thread (AVOID old or bargain bin thread).
ALWAYS RAISE the presser foot and rethread from the beginning.
Verify the thread path is correct.
Set the top tension at the midway point.
If it continues to break, then there may be a burr on the needle plate or in the bobbin area that is snagging the thread.

Sewing Machine Problem 1 Thread Breakage

I have a janome DC4030 the top thread keeps breaking on thicker materials,

Make sure the correct length of needle is used and installed correctly. Sometimes it moves slightly out of the holder without falling out but just enough to affect the needle eye position which can cause this kind of problem. For thicker materials use either ball point or denim needles. As last resort the top thread tension might be too tight. Adjust the top thread tension.

Just changed a broken needle, rethreaded everything but the threads in the top needles keep breaking

Remove all the thread. Loosen the upper tension as far as it can go and gently pull a length of UNwaxed thread or pearl cotton down through the tension disks to remove anything that may be stuck. Check that the needle has been installed facing the correct direction and that it has been inserted all the way up before the screw is tightened. Clean the bobbin area of any dirt, lint, or threads. RAISE the presser foot BEFORE threading the upper thread. This allows the thread to seat properly. Re-thread from the beginning. Set the upper tension to the midpoint and test.

If it is still happening, then try installing a brand-new needle (the one you have may be damaged or defective). If the thread is shredding before it breaks, then there may be a needle compatibility issue.

The top thread keeps breaking. The thread pulls tight and breaks. I have removed a broken thread piece from the upper take-up lever, rethreaded (several times), cleaned out bobbin, moved thread spool on...

try a tension a 3 to 5 on the top tension
try changing to a needle or if it's a new needle make sure the flat side of the needle faces the back of the machine and pushed all the way up into the needle holder
make sure the needle & thread are correct for each other, if the needle is to thin or to heavy for the fabric it will not work

Thread wont overlock

When the thread breaks too often, try these, that goes for all sewing machines
1. Replace the needles,
2. Loosen slightly the tension of the needle threads.
3. The top threads are to thin,
4.The sewing (rotary) hook or looper, has burs,
5. Wrong threading
