The receiver controls direct tv, cd and dvd player and does not go to OSD flashes for 1/2 second

SOURCE: cannot get dts from my Harmon Kardon AVR 300 via my Blue Ray
I'm not sure if this solution is still necessary however:
I own a H/K AVR300 and have a PS3 hooked up via HDMI to the TV and Optical TOSLink to the receiver. I have no troubles selecting between DD 5.1 and DTS 5.1. I can even select trueHD whatever format but I can't detect an audible difference, I think that mode might be downgraded back to regular DD5.1...
Hope this helps...

Do you have your receiver output connected to the input on your TV? For example, if the receiver is in connection number 1, is your TV set to connection 1?

The protect message means that the outputs are shorted. This is a fairly common problem that can easily be fixed by any shop that handles audio gear. Expect a parts cost in the $20-$40 range.

Try hooking up a yellow video wire from the back of the AVR 225 Monitor out. Should be at the end of the 7 or 8 yellow video ports on the back of the stereo. Next plug the other end into a yellow video in on a t.v. Get your remote, (Harmon/Kardon) and make sure the t.v. is on the correct video input and hit the OSD(on screen display) button on your harmon remote. There should be a setting in there that says VFD under ADVANCED menu option that allows for turning the front of your stereo lights on and off and dimming them half way also. OFF/HALF/FULL are the 3 options I believe.
If this doesnt solve it your display may have crapped out on you.
