Sony dsc-w50 dial slips from setting to setting while in use.

My sony dsc-w50 dial slips from setting to setting while in use. The dial physically appears to be set firmly on one setting but when trying to take pictures it slips from one setting to another seemingly at random. Any one know hoe to fix this?

SOURCE: Formate Error Sony Cyber Shoot DSC W50

This suggests one of 3 things. 1. Defective card, care fully clean the contacts or replace the card. 2 Dirty or defective card chamber contacts wrap apiece of clean paper around a card and carefully insert and remove several time into the chamber- thus attempting to 'polish' the contacts. take extreme care this is a very delicate area. 3. Firmware failure - there is no solution, replace the camera -unless it is under warranty Contact the Fuji technical support team at any rate.

SOURCE: Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W50 issues

Great explaination.

I tried this reset, but the error came back. Read in other posts that it is a "flash capacitor" problem.

SOURCE: Sony cyber-shot dsc-w50 problem

Hi!
It's a flash error. Could be flash fuse or flash board. If you have a multimeter and you're ready to open it, contact me at [email protected] or contact your local Sony service center.
I work in a Sony service center.

SOURCE: SONY Digital Camera DSC-W50 doesn't work. Lens goes in and out...

Hi!
Please try the under given troubleshootings:

(i) Please check if the Battery is fully charged.
(ii) Next, turn off the Camera, remove the Battery pack then press and hold the Power button for 30 seconds.
(iii) Then, reinsert the Battery pack and turn ON the Camera.
(iv) Next, try to access the menu options either by directly pressing the menu buttons or while reviewing the images.
(v) If the menu options are accessible while reviewing the captured images then reset the Camera to the original factory settings.
Please follow the steps given below to reset the Camera to the original factory settings:
(a) Turn ON the Camera.
(b) Access the menu screen either by directly pressing the Menu button or pressing the menu button while reviewing the captured images.
(c) If menu screen is accessible, then press the right arrow on the Control button to select (Setup) Settings, then press the right arrow again.
(d) Next, select the Setup 1 option by using left/right/up/down arrow on the control button.
(e) Then, select Initialize and OK.
(f) Finally, follow the on-screen instructions to set the clock in the Camera.

Performing the above steps will reset the Camera to the original factory settings. If the issue persists even after performing all the above steps successfully then the issue is related to hardware malfunctioning and service is required.

Need manual for dsc-w50 camera

Most of the documentation for the Sony CyberShot DSC-W50 is available on the product support page: https://esupport.sony.com/US/p/model-home.pl?mdl=DSCW50&template_id=1®ion_id=1&tab=manuals#/manualsTab . Make sure to look at the Manuals tab. Scroll down for the User Guide. The direct link to the manual appeared as https://docs.sony.com/release//DSCW30-W40-W50-W70.pdf in my browser history.

I hope this helps.

No matter what picture setting is selected the camera, Sony DSC-W50, it will only take video. Does anyone know how to fix this problem? Thanks

I think mode selector dial is not working in your DSC-W50 that is why camera is set on video mode.
Replace mode selector dial as mentioned in below image, part number is...

1-479-584-11 CONTROL SW BLOCK (SW110T) (for SILVER color)
1-479-584-21 CONTROL SW BLOCK (SW120TB) (for BLACK color)

Available in Part Store.
Thanks.

Sony cyber-shot dsc-w50 problem

When “FLASH error” (Self-diagnosis Code E : 91 : ** ) occurs, to prevent any abnormal situation caused by high voltage, setting of the
flash is changed automatically to disabling charge and flash setting.
After fixing, this setting needs to be deactivated. Flash error code can be initialized by the operations on the Setup screen.
Method for Initializing the Flash Error Code
Initializes the setting to the default setting.
1 Select [OK] with v on the control button, then press z.
The message “Initialize all settings Ready?” appears.
2 Select [OK] with v, then press z.
The settings are reset to the default setting.
• Make sure that the power is not disconnected during resetting.

IF YOU WANT TO TAKE PHOTOGRAPHS YOU NEED TO RESET THE MODE SWITCH TO A SETTING OTHER THAN VIDEO. SOMETHING LIKE SCENERY, FLOWERS,PEOPLE, ETC. YOU SHOULD SEE THESE ON THE MODE SWITCH, YOU MAY ALSO GO ONLINE TO SONY DSC-W50 AND VIEW THE USER MANUAL AND STUDY THE DIFFERENT MODES OF PHOTOS. Error E91:01 on DSC H7

If the camera works in all other respects, then that has something to do with the flash setting or some other setting in the menus. But this sounds like something with the flash directly.

Here is a link which may be able to help on the DSC H7: http://www.aakatz.com/whitepaper/whitepaper/appendix2.htm

Try also to reset all the menu setting back to what it was for the factory. Most digital cameras have a setting for that, and usually is something like "RESET ALL" or something close to that.

If nothing works, then the camera needs repair. This is an error to do with the flash only, it appears. So some of the internal parts could be weak, thus causing the error.

Reset in the menu ... RESET ALL or something like that will return the setting back to factory.
You could also look at your settings in the menu and check the white settings for the picture taking modes.
