Hi,

please power cycle your plasma tv once. If problem still occurs, then please remove all accessories from the plasma screen and restart your tv from remote (with 30 second delay). Otherwise, you'll need to factory reset your tv and schedule a home appointment if you still need one.

If you get a blue screen when it's on, try feeding in an external audio and video source, like a camcorder or VCR, and see if it displays. Check setup or input selection. If it's set to video or HDMI source and nothing is plugged in, you'd get a blue screen.

I have a 42" Electrograph plasma and it has a 2" black vertical line on the left side of the screen.

I had the same problem, I had to send it back to Philips to get a $900 part replaced. Thankfully I had the warranty with it.

The driver boards on that side of the set need to be replaced, about $400 for parts.

IF THE LINE IS ABOUT 1INCH WIDE THE CHANCES ARE IT WILLBE YOUR PLASMA DISPLY THAT HAS GONE . WOULD BR CHEAPER TO BUY A NEW UNIT . HOWEVER TRY RINGING HITACHI EXPLAIN THE FAULT COMPLAIN THAT IT SHOULD OF LASTED LONGER THAN THE WARANTY AND SEE WHAT THEY WILL DO ABOUT IT
