Epson Aculaser C1100 - E511

I have a problem with my Epson,  it's flashing all lights and bringing up the message Service Required E511.  Do you know what the problem is and is there any way I can fix this myself?

Thanks
Natasha

The E511 error comes when you power up the printer. The noise of the "warm up" is the black rubber transfer belt on the Photo Conductor Unit spinning through one rev to check for a little silver square on the edge of the belt. You can turn the belt manually to see this square.

If this square is not found, Epson will tell you to throw away an otherwise fine PCU.
Solution:
a) Remove PCU and check the transfer belt for the square. Clean WITHOUT alcohol.
b) check the sensor that reads this square - a small black oblong "camera" in the heart of the printer on the LHS. Clean.
c) If the square is damaged, replace with a piece of tin foil. Superglue on carefully, making sure all the edges are glued but not your fingers!

You don't need to put the new square in exactly the same place, just above or below on the belt is fine.

For me this issue was caused by the black transfer belt on the photoconducter unit being 'off-centre'. It took some doing, but I eventually managed to shift the belt to the left by a couple of milimeters and all worked fine...

Very helpful. Same here and solved the problem that way.

First I tried cleaning the silver square on the rubber belt and that camera, which however I was not
able to exactly locate; as suggested by several posts. Still got that E511.

After rotating the belt a bit and pushing it back to be centered again however all is back to fine.

Absolutely agree move the huge rubber band which runs right through the photoconductor unit sideways (roll over rollers while pushing sideways as well) till it sort of equally overlaps the rollers  thus allowing the little silver square to be properly seen by it's detector

"C open" might be connected to the "B open" problem. Look here:

Had the service re E511 prompt.  Carefully took out photoconductor, carefully cleaned inside and vacuumed residue out (carefully without touching anything!)  Working perfectly again

I have to adjust the belt on my PCU every few copies, I have even tried another PCU from a different printer that works fine and this is now causing the same problem, I don't know how but the printer is causing the belt to move to one side so that eventually the printer no longer sees the silver square, moving the belt back fixes the problem for a while... Any ideas...?

After changing the black cartridge of epson aculaser c1100, a message flashed: Service Req E511

Hello,

Welcome to FixYa, the world's largest product support community.

The message E 511: Service Required is commonly due to the Photo Conductor Unit's tabs getting stuck. So the first thing we need to do is to remove the PHoto Conductor Unit. Here are the step to remove the Photo Conductor Unit off of your EPSON Aculaser C1100.

1. Turn the printer on, and open cover B.

4. Check the white tabs on the underside of the photoconductor unit. These are spring-loaded plastic tabs that should depress when you press and release it. If the white tabs no longer spring back you need to replace the photoconductor unit.

After removing or ultimately replacing the photoconductor unit, please follow the step by step giude on how to remove the photoconductor unit in reverse order.

I HAVE E511 PROBLEM ON THE C1100

The "Service Req E511" error message means that part of the photoconductor unit called the transfer belt is not being detected. Hi Sharon
I wish some of the users posting questions here had minds of there own.
Anyway,, That issue you're having doesn't happen on my machine, I'm able to type willy-nilly (and a whole lot more).
There's a bunch of answers relating to the E511 message on the Epson pages
just click here http://www.fixya.com/search.aspx?cstm=0&_s=E511
hopefully something there will help.

I've a notice in epson aculaser 1100 lcd (service reg E511)

The E511 error for your Epson Aculaser  in most cases means that its motor has malfunctioned or something is preventing the motor from working properly.

No function on my printer is working

E-511 error message is related to the Photoconductor Unit. In order to resolve your issue, there 3 things that I'd like to suggest.

1. Take out the Photoconductor Unit and turn it upside down check if the white tabs restract. If it doesn't you need to replace the PCU otherwise just put it back in

2. If reseating the PCU doesn't resolve your issue, try a different PCU

3. Lastly, warranty options if your product is within the 1-year warranty from the date it was purchase contact Epson Tech support they'll be more than happy to send an onsite tech support to fix it otherwise visit their website support.epson.com and look for a repair center in your area

Service reqd E511

E511 is a TR0 Sensor Fault. Can be caused by:

Photoconductor Unit
SENSOR TR-0
HARNESS-ASSY XERO
MOTOR ASSY P/R
HARNESS ASSY MAIN
PWBA MCU
LV/HVPS

Not really something easy to fix at home.
