I have a Yaesu FT-415 and the same problem. My original battery is a SONY 1220-VJ2H (solder tabs, blue insulation on the outer edge and two stick-on paper insulaters) and is soldered in to the Control PC board (mounted vertically). I'm going to get a new battery and hopefully am brave enough to get the soldering iron to the board. It looks like you have to unsolder the board from the speaker to lift it up enough to get at the solder tabs on the battery, luckily I have access to a Pace soldering station with a vacuum pump. I'll hopefully try this next week and get back to you all.

I have successfully replaced the battery without unsoldering the old one, just cut the tabs and solder the new one's tabs onto the old tabs. Saved a lot of trouble, quick instructions at http://www.scribd.com/doc/17461149/Yaesu... including a colour photo showing where the battery is on the control board.

My Yaesu FT-840 tuning knob turns, but the frequency does not change can you help?

Question edited for correct spelling of Yaesu and correct forming of model number.

There is a service manual here, but you would be better to take to a service centre unless you are very skilled with electronics. It has a Lithium backup battery, and I think I would change that at the outset.

Hello! I've a couple of battery packs yaesu FNB27. The old NiCad batteries do not work. I want to replaced it by new LiH type. What is the best way to open the battery case without damaging it? thanks...

It's difficult to open the Vertex packs without ruining them. FNB27 is widely available on eBay or you can get them from manufacturers such as W&W in Hicksville NY online. I don't know if anyone has made them in Lithium Ion yet.

I need a new battery for a yaesu ft 26

Try "Batteries Plus" either online or possibly a local outlet. I found the batteries for my FT51 there and half the price of the factory ones.

Check the connection going to the BNC antenna connector from the circuit board. I have seen this wire break before. KB9EKH

Yaesu ft-815

Double check that "TSQ" is not enabled. In the menus you can fine "SQL" and select the type of squelch. If you have "TSQ" selected you'll only hear signals from radios that a re transmitting the CTCSS tone selected.
