Black spots appeared on 17" LCD Monitor-SyncMaster740N

There appeared one black spot inside the monitor at one corner. Then it's diametre increased. Later appeared similar spots at different parts of my Monitor. It is well visible when white pages are open. Monitor is placed in a very safe place so that there is no any mechanical damages happened. It looks like you're developing dead pixels on your LCD screen. Short from buying a new screen to fix this problem, there are a few methods that may work. Here is the best guide that describe a few ways of unsticking those pixels.

my personal recommendation for a software fix (try it before doing anything physical to your LCD) is UndeadPixel.

You might have what you call "dead pixels" or a "stuck pixel" try a simple test like this one now it is not the most creative one, but it does help to see if that is the case. u might be able to Fix a STUCK pixel, but unfortunately you can not fix a "DEAD pixel" simply because it is DEAD.
try this website for simple fix instructions.
if is dead pixel what you have, if u can live with it, great, if not , it might be a good reason to get yourself an another monitor.

Good luck

In a span of 3 years my Samsung LCD Monitor (SyncMaster740N) started Having Black Spot all over the Screen, Starting from the Corners and Now it Blinks after every 10 Seconds, The buttons for Color and...

Fistly the black dots that are appearing are called "Dead Pixels". They cannot be removed as they are liquid crystals that have stopped working. When you purchased the LCD it should have come with a support CD. On this disk it should have a program to manually set the brightness on your monitor by using your mouse.

Black spot on the monitor .

I beleive the liquid had leaked into between the LCD panel and the filter sheets. Hopefully it will dry out, otherwise you have to disassemble the panel which not to be done unless you have clean room to work in.

Black spot is growing on my LCD Monitor

It is the LCD itself failing, no repair for the LCD itself, the screen will need to be replaced. Likely cheaper to replace the entitr monitor

My ViewSonic va1930wm monitor has black spots.

How long have you owned it? Mine did the same thing. It was a dead spot which got worse. It was just past warranty (of course) but I took it back to Home Depot & they worked with me to get it replaced. Unfortunately, I think this is your only hope. The monitor dept. told me that once they get dead spots there is nothing you can do for them. Wish the news was better.

If you hit the screen, then there is noting you can do. the lcd matrix would need to be replaced.

Monitor hit with a Headphone

The black spot can stop or keep spreading, but it will never disappear or reduce in size. This is caused from a leak of liquid between layers inside the lcd panel.
Nothing to do apart changing lcd panel. Bring monitor to nearest service and check if it is worth being repaired (changing screen panel).

Black out in corner of screen is growing

If You see that black spot while monitor is off then the LCD needs to be replace. if not then check these....
Check the LCD panel (push a little bit from the black spot place if it loose colours then may be it is due to the improper connection with panel board.( check the voltage while changing the screen resolution, if everything is ok then......
LCD pixels burned. replace the LCD panel or if u want to use it as it is then decrease the brightness and don't use high resolution images.
