It is probably made that way, but if it wasn't like that out of the box first plugged in, than there should be a button to make it brighter. (or it might just be you...)

Turn the calculator on. Hold down the "C" key (just above the ON key) and press + to darken the screen. If you go too far, use the C and - keys to lighten the screen.
Press the power on button while holding OK until the unit switches on- that puts the 101 into Service mode. Then press the up key until the screen contrast is about right. (or press the down key... to make it darker). You'll be able to see if all the tests pass. Then when you're happy with the setting, turn off.
Look for a small turning wheel, just below the green and pink selection knobs, on the front right of your machine. Turn it anticlock wise for a darker image and clockwise for a lighter image. Enjoy!
maybe try going to settings and click on battery and display and fix the light setting u have set on there if thats not helping then try calliing t-mobile
Sounds as if your toner cartridge may be nearing the end of its life or you've got the economode turned on. If it's the latter it can be turned off in the printer driver -
printer Properties -
On the Paper/Quality tab or the Finishing tab -
uncheck the economode box.
