SOURCE: My cuisinart burr coffee grinder will not turn on

This model sometime gets plugged up with grounds.

Unplug the grinder, and remove the bin where the grounds go. Look inside the grinder part where the grounds come from the grinder into the bin. This should be clear, and you should be able to see part of the grinder wheel inside. If this is plugged up with grounds, then you'll want to clean it out, but it's possible that the motor has already burned out (we killed two of them last year at my office this way)

Pour out any whole beans that are in the top part. You can pour them in a bowl to save them, you don't have to throw them away.

Unscrew the top part until it detaches from the grinder. This will take 20 or more rotations -- just keep turning it counter-clockwise.

You'll want to do this next part over a sink or a counter that's easy to clean -- you're going to dump a lot of ground coffee.

Looking into the grinder from the top, you'll see the grinding wheel in the center, and packed coffee grounds around the edges. Use a plastic knife or bamboo skewer to clean out the ground coffee. Don't use a screwdriver, metal silverware, or anything metal, as this can damage the grinder housing. You also want to clean from the bin opening. When you're done cleaning, the grinder wheel should turn freely.

Reattach the top portion, put the bin back in place, and turn the grinder on. It should turn on and spin the grinder wheel. If it still doesn't, then your motor is burned out. :(

If it does turn, then put the coffee beans back in and enjoy a cup -o- joe!

Hi, Using this Cuisinart Conical grinder is awful. The static makes the coffee stick to everything and makes it difficult when you are using this. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

The only thing I've found that will work for this problem, which I certainly agree creates a mess, is to let the grinds sit for just a few minutes before opening the receiving cup. Especially in winter, this will give the static charge a chance to dissipate. A few minutes won't kill your coffee's taste, but it sure will lessen your cleanup!

How to remove bean hopper?

Yes it unscrews, just turn it counter clockwise and it will come out. Don't be surprised if the plastic neck and burr head is broken because this is an inferior design and needs to be trashed. I will never buy another Cuisinart product.

When grinding coffee beans the grinder is not dropping the beans into the grinder part. I have to stay and shake or bang the grinder on counter to get the beans to fall through.

you must screw off the burr holder plate screw (in center) you will order one special screw, drill shaped, when the burrs roll it will mix and take down the coffee beans. That is solution i applied to many grinders. PS: beware the direction of burrs must be coordinated with new screw.

Cuisinart burr grind and brew coffee maker

The hopper between the burr grinder and where coffee chutes into the filter is jammed with coffee powder...

First, take out the filter holder and carafe, and place a freash empty filter on the pot base to catch stuff.

Next, take out the beans holder and look for the release lever in the lower left section. Sliding it to the left slides open the door, where you'll probably find loads of powder. You can poke your finger through to get the majority, then use the cleaning brush to get it really clean.

Thanks what fixed mine! (I notice I have to do this about once every few months.)

CCM-16 Series Cuisinart Supreme Grind Automatic Burr Mill (Coffee Grinder)

Actually, I've never had any problems with my grinder. Got it for a very low price at Costco about 2 years ago. The switch has never failed to function and I've often slid the switch over to the left to stop the grinding before the designated time (I was in a hurry for my coffee) , but this hasn't seemed to negatively effect the function of the switch. It just keeps working.
