Try to download the repair manual to your set from internet. It sounds that you have to get into its service mode adjustments. All details are in the repair manual.
First you may want to check all of your cable connections, splitters or boosters if you have any.
Then if possible try to connect another tv or vcr to the same cable to see if you get anything, this might help confirm either the tv or cable signal is the problem.
