Plug in external monitor to see how that works. If it does same the issue is with your laptop. If it works fine the issue is with your laptop display that needs replacement.

You will need to go to the Toshiba WEB site, to the support/download page, search for the video driver for Windows XP for your model laptop and install it on your laptop. There may be several version, download the latest.

SOURCE: Laptop screen has a 1" wide, white bar.

What is a screencard? I think they mean display driver, try uninstalling Display Adapter and then reinstalling sometime fixes problems.

It has two problems one with a buffer card. , and another with the drive left . , to do a test with the drive , and disconnect if it turns white , it's just the card drive , but is screen

Hello,

please try to call/contact Toshiba Tech Support to advice where to get the suitable Driver's Software, but check this link 1st,

http://support.toshiba.com/support/modelHome?freeText=1157633

this is a link for all support given by Toshiba for your laptop with the contact details so you can reach the Tech Support to help with the software issue.

- My Recommendation for you is to upgrade your System to Windows 7 which will help you also to avoid such an issue in the future as its auto Install Drivers even if its not available, it search for the software and install it for you as an update.

Part of the Screen is white

The LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) is damaged. This happens mostly in laptops from either too much pressure being put put on the case behind the LCD, or a foreign object being on the keyboard platform when the laptop is closed. Any computer store should be able to replace it for you. If you are kindy handy you can change it yourself cheaper and easier than you think. Go to Youtube.com and in the search bar type the model of your laptop(which can be found on the box or the label that will be on the back of the laptop or underneath the battery) with "LCD replacement" right after. After watching what it takes and you want to do it yourself to save some money, find your LCD. My favorite 2 places to obtain laptop screens is either LaptopScreens.com or ebay.com. laptopscreens.com has a search bar to type in the model of the laptop. on ebay.com in the search bar, type the model of the laptop with "LCD" right after. depending on the age of the laptop the LCD can usually be purchased for $40-$60. Depending on the shop you take it to, it could cost anywhere from $90-$150.

Wide white vertical bar down center of screen.

The only way to fix this is to replace the entire inside of the television, basicly the entire set except the case and power supply. I watched two repairman do this repair and this is not a do it yourself job. I asked them on a scale from a 1-10 how hard this job was for them, and almost before I could get the last words out of my mouth with this questions they both said a 10.
