HP Pavilion ze4125 PC Notebook will not boot up

My notebook will not even try to boot.  When I press the power button nothing happens,  I have tried changing the memory, processor, and hard drive.  Unless the motherboard is bad I have no clue what else it could be. Thanks

I myself have a ze4125us.

First thing you want to do is look at the green LED on the power pack to see if it is lit.  IF it is not, then your power supply is most likely fragged and you'll need a new one.  It's easy to find them on ebay.  Or you could also look for alternate power sources from other makes such as Kensington.  I have a nice one that can plug into either the wall socket or the 12v socket in your car.  It comes with multiple adapter connections you can use to power a wide variety of models of laptop.  All you have to do is choose the right one.

Here is the one I have:
http://us.kensington.com/html/6368.html

The only problem is that this adapter's MSRP is about $130 if I remember correctly.  (I lucked out and got mine for free when I worked in a tech dept.)

Testing your adapter with a multi-meter or on another ze4125us would be a plus.

If it is not the adapter, then plug in the adapter and move it around in a light, non-forceful circular motion to see if the charging LED comes on at all.  Consider from this that your power connector socket on the back of the laptop could be damaged and has become seperated from the motherboard inside.  (Although I doubt that given that it's well-built onto the motherboard.  I've opened mine multiple times for various modifications.)

Much beyond that...  Remove all hardware that you can...  (Hard drive, optical drive, battery.)  Leave one stick of RAM in the system.  Plug in the laptop and see what you can get out of it.  If it's still not powering on, then we are indeed most likely looking at a scenario where your motherboard could be fragged.

The best advice that I can give to you on that note is to start looking for used spares on ebay.  You can usually find plenty of individual parts for laptops on ebay.  If you do this, however...  Either make sure you know what you're doing or find someone you know and trust who can do it for you.  This laptop does indeed require plenty of attention to detail when disassembling it.  MAKE A DIAGRAM OF WHERE EVERY SCREW GOES or you will be guaranteed to lose track of several of them.

The motherboard is also fairly difficult to remove...  Be gentle and TAKE YOUR TIME in being observant to see where the motherboard is secured to the lower chassis!

That's just about it.  If you have any more questions... Please let me know.  I'll keep a watch here.

Good luck!  :)

    Wow.

I love how I spend the time to give a detailed description...

...but someone comes along and throws not even a full paragraph at you and you give them the better vote.

    Yeah.

And I MORE than suggested just THAT.

    Thanks for the crap rating.

    Thanks for NOTHING.

I realize that your board is fried, but you don't have to come HERE and take it out on someone else by giving them that kind of CRAP rating.

I'll be SURE to avoid YOUR name in the future.

    WITHOUT regards,

Trying to open it up?!?

In addition to the screws visible outside the case, you need to get at screw(s) underneath the keyboard. By removing the hinge cover/speaker faceplate, you can remove the screws holding the keyboard in, and lift the keyboard out to get at the last screw(s).

Did it give you any blue screen error. Did you try booting from the CD. Its definitely something to do with the OS. Load the CD and run the setup and try to repair the OS.

Has there been a power surge meanwhile? If so, try unplugging the power cord, press the power button, reconnect power and try booting. Sometimes works.

HP Pavilion DV notebook wont boot up

First of all, if you are getting 1 short and 2 long beeps, the graphic card of the Notebook might have failed. Get the Notebook repaired by HP if under warranty.

However, if your Notebook is installed with AMD processor, it is having a known issue and can get it repaire for free if purchased in US and the related information is available from the link below :
