Question about Sony KP-65WV700 65" Rear Projection HDTV

1 Answer

Sony Kp-65wv700 Too much red -- white looks redish

My Sony Kp-65wv700 has a clear picture, but it has a red cast to it.  When white objects or letters are on screen, they have a red hue to them.  I have tried adjusting the hue to correct for it with no luck. I have also adjusted the convergence--still has the red cast.   The red led light on the front of the tv flashes 5 times. I am told this may indicate what the problem is.  Anyone have any ideas on a fix for the tv?  Thanks!

If your TV looks 3D, warped, or distorted it likely has a convergenge problem.
If however it just looks dull, washed out, redish, or if it looks like objects on the screen have halos the fluid in the lens has soured.
You can search google for parts or you can get the parts with repair instructions from sites such as www.TvRepairKits.com

I have a sony model KP-48V90 All of the sudden the picture started ghosting and the color went green and redish haze

Projection TV sets are known to have two common problems. The first problem that is common to these sets is convergence failure. When this happens the TV will usually look 3D, Wavy/Distorted, etc. It may also shutdown and blink an error code.

The second common problem with Projection TV sets is dull video, halos around objects, white looking video, or red overpowers the screen. This is commonly caused by the fluid in the lens being clouded overs.

To get fixed either call in a local TV repair company or goto sites such as www.TvRepairKits.com to get a repair kit with instructions.

Blue Screen

You have a bad blue picture tube. If you replace it the red and green will be weak and probably go sooner than you think. Everytime I had to replace a tube in a sony projo tv i had to replace all 3 picture tubes at the same time. It's very expensive if you don't have any type of warranty coverage.
