Find the bake ignitor (you may need to remove bottom drawer or oven cavity floor to get to the ignitor). Turn on the bake. If the bake ignitor comes on (starts glowing after a few seconds) - check the amperage on the bake ignitor wires when it's on. If the ignitor is a round style - amperage should be 2.5-3A, if the ignitor is rectangular - 3 - 3.6A. If less than 2.5A or 3A respectively - replace ignitor. If the ignitor does not come on - check the voltage on the ignitor, should be the line voltage 110-120v AC. If there is a line voltage on the ignitor and it's not coming on - replace.
Ignitor part numbers for round style ones: 4342528, WB2X9154, SGR403, 5304401265;
rectangular styles: 12400035, WB13K21, WB2X9998, SGR412, NR020, 5303935066, 814269, 9753108.
Ignitors of the same shape (i.e. rectangular) are interchangeable, if you can splice the wires.

Good luck!

2 of 4 burners will not ignite. Gas is flowing, because I can light it with a match. Very old Vesta by Tappen. What could be the cause?

I say the pilots that do not work are plugged with dirt. Shut the gas to the stove down and take these lines and pilots apart and clean real good. Worse comes to worse get yourself a small propane torch and light the stove that way. If you do that make sure the gas does not leak out of the plugged ones.

Smelling gas but not lighting

I've had ignitors fail that way, they don't always just burn into an open circuit. I'd advise replacing it.

Hello
Tha sounds to me like the air mixture nedds to be adjusted on the stove, It's not difficult to do, just rotate it until the flames loose the yellow or your pans will be stained with soot.
The should be by the fittings (convertion fittings), you know?
LP Gas to Natural Gas or Natural Gas to LP Gas.
Hope this help

Tappen gas 4 burner about 10 years old with about 10 hrs total use time(basement stove)

Hi Carlsr,

The F1 error code description is an electronic oven control failure. To fix this error, you need to replace electronic oven control (also called EOC or clock).

Hope it helps.

Thank you for using FixYa.
