MIRASCAN V3.42 for xp - Acer ScanPrisa 640P Flatbed Scanner

I think this scanner is not supported in Windows 7 OS. You can alternatevely try to install Virtual PC->Windows XP Mode and install your scanner there, so you could use your old hardware. If you want to follow my advise, go to this page and follow the instructions about downloading and installing Windows XP mode on your workstation.

For this driver to work in XP you must install the MiraScan software then install the scanner manually.

Step 1. Download MiraScan v3.424 from the web : Mirascan_v3424p.exe

Step 2. Unzip and install the Mira Scan driver that you just downloaded. After installation , system will suggest you to add a scanner

Step 3. Then, add an imaging device

Step 4. Then the Scanner and Camera Installation Wizard comes up. Click Next at the bottom.

Step 5. Then on Scanner and Camera Installation Wizard screen it will ask you which scanner or camera do you want to install? You want to go where it says Manufacturer and then click on EPPSCANNER and where it says Model it should say color flatbedscanner. Make sure it is highlighted, also. Click on Next at the bottom.

Note: This solution does not work on all computers but many report success with it. The hang-up is caused from certain chipsets in the computer motherboard.

uninstall the photoshop restart you pc then install it againg. Restat the pc and try to use it.

You need to install the Mirascan driver first and then install the scanner manually.

1.You need to download the MiraScan v3.424. ftp://12.145.38.159/scanner/drivers/parallel/mirascanv3424p.zip

2. Unzip and install the MiraScan driver and it will prompt for an add scanner wizard.

3. Proceed with add an imaging device.

4. Then the Scanner and Camera Installation Wizard comes up. Click Next at the bottom.

5. On Scanner and Camera Installation Wizard,You need to select the option where you can choose a "Manufacturer". Locate EPPSCANNER. For the "Model" option, select color flatbedscanner. Proceed with the final steps of the wizard.

6. Restart your computer and then test scanner.

Note: not all XP systems will work with parallel port scanners. If the procedure doesn't work for you, then you must obtain a newer USB type scanner.

You need to download and install drivers again. The only website distributing drivers for Mirascan is this one , as Acer dose not provide drivers for this device anymore. You will need to subscribe to website to download drivers
Unplug Scanner before installing drivers, plug it back only when finished installing or when required
