Roxio Media Manager Keeps Trying to Install

Whenever I start up my Compaq laptop and Windows XP loads, Windows Installer keeps trying to install Roxio Media Manager. I have removed every scrap of anything related to Roxio, restored to an earlier date, tried to remove BlackBerry desktop software in Safe Mode, among other things. Yet this still repeatedly occures and prevents me from installing any new software and to delete any software. I need help!

How can anyone possibly believe the response above answers the question or helps to resolve the problem? "Solution 1" above is no more a solution than "Buy a new PC and don't ever install a Roxio product."

The only way to avoid this is to uninstall Roxio and remove every shred of the program you can find on the system. Then reinstall Roxio. Roxio has to be the LAST program installed if you are installing software. It is incompatible with a fair number of other programs, especially those that have anything to do with video, such as TV tuners, video editing, etc.

When it works Roxio is okay, but it is bug-filled.

It sounds like something in your Startup menu, that wasn't uninstalled. This is a problem, because it can be named anything, and you probably won't recognize it. Unless you can find someone that has had the exact same problem, and identified the process, you will have to try to restore your computer to a date previous to that when the problem started occuring. That would be the easiest fix. If that doesn't work, you might try googling the problem, you might get lucky and find someone that's figured it out. Last resort, of course, is to reload XP. Good luck, I know your pain, been there.

Roxio Media Manager continues to try to install

Hello,

After reading your problem I came across some interesting references about roxio and agent.exe.
Seems agent.exe is used by many programs to update themselves over the internet, and it was giving a lot of people headaches by using 70% or more of their CPU, like yourself.

So, I wanted to send you a few quick thoughts on how to hopefully fix your situation.

First, there were complaints about stuff trying to install itself on and on, and it was because there were command lines in the STARTUP MENU calling upon them to install every time windows starts.

So to try to fix this if its happening in your case........
Go to start>run>and type in msconfig and click ok.
Now click startup and uncheck these items.

issch
ISUSPM
'ISUSPM Start Up'
'ISUSSCheduler'
Adobe Reader Speed Launcher
Quick Time Task
Igfxtray
HotKeysCmds
MSMSGS
WMPNFCSG
COMMUNICATOR
PERSISTENCE (igfxpers)
DLA

Then click apply, then ok and restart your computer.
When windows starts, you will see a window saying that changes were made to the configuration utility. When you see it, click on the little white box saying not to show this any more.
And if you really miss not having something you unchecked, you can always go back there and recheck it!

Maybe now you will have the chance to purge all things Roxio from your system.
Best of luck!!

I installed Roxio Photosuite 8 on my Windows XP. Now it keeps trying to install whenever I start the computer. How do I get it to stop? It's already installed!!!!

Go to start/ run/ type in "msconfig'
Choose "Selective Start Up"/ then click the "Start Up" tab on the top.
uncheck anything that says Roxio/ restart.
You can pretty much safely uncheck everything except your Anti Virus.

Roxio media manager install

If you go to start menu and run, type in msconfig.

Go to the startup tab and uncheck the items you don't want loading up - roxwatch9.exe is one (whether or not there's a separate entry for media manager I can't recall).

Reboot, tell the nag screen please go away and don't bother me again.
