  • Anonymous Feb 23, 2008

I have an error code 6A00...ink tank does not light up or move..the alarm lights is on...I can not perform an functions other than turning it off and on...Please help

  • Anonymous Mar 05, 2008

Brand new today 5/3/08 - Loaded ink tanks.

hought I was ready to calibrate and get started. 6A00 error code appeared.

tried switching off, unplugging and waiting. No effect.

printer tried switching itself on sevral times.

I will contact the seller tomorrow for advice/replacement.

Canon's technical advice on website would not load and their warranty insists on accepting unacceptable conditions for data transfer outwith EU.

    I'm not a happy chappie.

There was a plastic gear grinding sound, down by the print cartridge area, after the machine was turned on and trying to engage. This happened several times so it was turned off. In checking the ink cartridges (they slid smoothly) the "Print Head Lock Lever" was released and engaged and the machine was turned back on. The cartrigdes sound like they are sliding, but the 6A00 Error Code comes up.

A Canon MP 600. Sounds like a (plastic) gear grinding.  Occurred after paper jammed twice.  Have used printer less than 2 weeks (though it was a add-on feature with purchase of a MacBook Pro 5/23/07; I had kept using an Epson Stylus 4600 which had performed beautifully for 4 years!).
From what I read on blog, sounds like I'm stuck with junking this Canon.

First I started getting 5C10 Error messages and while trying to fix that (restarting did not help, so I tried to reset it) it turned to 6A00 Error message. I have a 3 year extended plan warranty, but haven't called Canon yet. I guess I will have to do that and hopefully they will take care of it.

I have had two error codes with my Pixma 830 both occuring after 1 year ownership. Canon repaired the first under warranty, the second is on me. The cost of having it looked at is $75.00 a new HP is $125, and they don't require proprietary ink cartridges. This machine is way too sensitive, and cannot be services unless you have a Canon franchise. I'm going to throw it away.

I had the same problem and contacted Canon about getting a replacement and they never got back to me. Then one day the error message was gone and it started working again.

6A00 is a problem with the sheet feed unit.
Follow Canon's suggestion, take it or send the unit UPS to the Authorized Repair Facility.
You will NOT be able to resolve the problem yourself.

Error code 6A00

Hi
Error 6A00
The 6A00 is a Canon generic code for paper path jam.

Solution 1:
Move the printhead carriage back and forth a few times.

Solution 2:
Check the purge unit: Moving the print head assembly will not clear a purge unit if its jammed with paper, paper clips, push pins, screws, cookie crisp, flower bud pods or the like.

Solution 3:
Press the ink pads down in the purge unit.

Canon Mp780 error code 6A00

6A00 is not a jam error, it is an error of the purge assembly not cycling properly. Many times a paper scrap jammed in the capping assembly or the squeegee assembly caught on the filter assembly. Usually worn out gears and dried ink so that replacement of the purge assembly is the best fix.

6A00 is the error when the purge assembly is broken or jammed. You need a shop to install a new one since the entire print engine has to come out to replace it.

Canon pixma mp800 error code 6A00

6A00 means you need a new purge assembly. That's the unit that cleans the printhead. Part number is QM2-3032-000 around $30.00 but a shop should install it.

6A00 error

The error seems to indicate a failed sheet feed, check the paper path to see for any stuck bits of paper, however I have heard that this can also be caused by a flaky sensor in the paper path.....

apparently the best way to deal with this is to turn it upside down and give it a shake.

hope this helps

Error code 6A00

Error Code 6A00 is a problem with the sheet feed unit. You cannot fix it by yourself because you do not have the tools to fix the printer.
You go to a Canons Support Page and ask for a replacement if it is still under warranty or you replace the printer with a new one.
