Can't serve web pages through 2wire u-verse modem/router

Problem: World can't see Tomcat served web pages through ATT UVerse 2wire modem/router/firewall. Everything used to work. The webserver PC died so I bought a new machine, gave it the same name as the old machine and loaded Tomcat onto it. I can easily view web pages from behind the firewall. I've configured the firewall as best I can to direct inquiries to the new server using the old server's parameters while "cleaning" the firewall of those same directives for the old machine. Using yougetsignal.com's port tester I can see our webcam's port but not the Tomcat port. Calls to ATT haven't helped and they want to start charging me for support.

SOURCE: CAN A 2WIRE DSL ROUTER WORK WITH A CABLE INTERNET CONEECTION

The 2wire dsl modem/router cannot be use with a another cable modem , since this 2wire device is also a modem/router and its made for the DSL conenction that's why it wont work with Cox cable, the best thing that you can do is to ask Cox to give a wireless modem/router like this 2wire so you can still use the wireless connection of your computer..

Hope that helps..........

There is a problem: you are connected on LAN side of the modem, so your IP is privat and are not visible in the Internet. It?s like 192.168.x.x .On the WAN side you have another IP that's could be public: 5.35.85.x .To see the public IP use a specific web site like: http://pingme.info/

Unable to connect to home ATT 2wire with new Belkin USB wireless

AT&T 2Wire routers function as both routers and modems. You can disable the router functionality by placing the router in bridge mode. In bridge mode, the 2Wire device functions only as a modem and forwards all incoming traffic to the device behind the 2Wire router. For example, you can use a different router instead of the 2Wire's built-in router by enabling bridging mode -- the router behind the 2Wire device will get the external IP address, and the 2Wire router won't interfere.
Step 1Type "Homeportal/management" (without quotes) into your Web browser's address bar and press "Enter" to access the Management page in the 2Wire router's Web interface.
Step 2Provide your 2Wire router's custom password, if you set one. The router comes with no password set.
Step 3Click "Configure" under Broadband on the Management page.
Step 4Type a period (".") into the "Disable PVC Search" box.
Step 5Set the value of the "VPI" box to "0" and the value of the "VCI" box to "35".
Step 6Set the "Connection Type" to "Direct IP" and click "Submit."
Step 7Click the "Configure Services" link on the Management page.
Step 8Uncheck "Enable Routing" and click "Submit."

Lost connectivity to network printer when switched to ATT u-Verse

Is the printer connected via wireless? When I recently connected up a new wireless printer to my UVerse network, the printer manual said that establishing the first connection works better via an Ethernet cable directly to the Uverse router. After the printer is set up once, then I could remove the ethernet cable and connect to the printer via wireless from all my computers.
For all wireless PCs that were previously connected via wireless to dsl, you need to create a new network connection for each one, then enter the key that is listed on the side of your Uverse router when prompted. Sometimes it takes a few minutes to establish the connection.
I am amazed that ATT was so unhelpful on these issues. I was one of their first Uverse customers in Texas, and several times over the last years, techs would visit my house to solve a problem or hook something up, explaining to me as he went. That their helpful attitude is deteriorating is a real shame.

Wireless printing with AT&T U-verse and 3800 HGV-B and Linksys WPSM54G

I may not be able to completely solve the issue for all who posted, and I have not gotten the scanner part of my Brother MFC-5440CN printer/scanner/copier/fax to work through the wireless PS, but I can at least shed some light:

First off - trying to make the Linksys WPS54G work on a wireless network that has a decent level of security is NOT for the faint of heart!

Key issue is security; make sure you know what wireless security protocol your router is using (WEP-64, WEP-128, or WPA). My U-verse installation uses the exact same 2Wire router, but either it defaults to WPA security, or the tech set it up that way without asking me. WPA is preferable anyway, as it is the most secure, and I had my network set up on WPA with my ZOOM X6 when we had AT&T DSL.

The problem is that the Linksys unit is old/obsolete enough that it defaults to WEP or no security, and in fact the setup program and utilities on the CD that came with the refurb. unit I recently bought are way outdated compared to the current downloads available on their support site, and don't even offer WPA as an option.

If your U-verse router is configured for WPA, as is most likely, then you have to get your Linksys unit configured for WPA security before it can be properly "seen" on the network by your computers. This means either downloading the latest setup/driver programs from Linksys's support website and burning a fresh setup CD, or getting to the Web-interface of the unit and setting it there (I could not even get to the web-interface because of my firewall and other security). Only then can you set the unit to use WPA security with the same key/passphrase as your U-verse router and your computer(s).

I'd advise downloading the latest stuff in any case. I ended up downloading the latest firmware, upgrading it on the unit using the Bi-Admin util on the setup CD, setting up the unit using the web-interface (be patient, because sometimes the page loads can be very slow when it is reading or writing settings). I have never been able to access the web-interface from my laptop, which is probably the most secure on our network. I was only able to get things working when I accessed it from an old PC we rarely use, and it is only running Windoze (XP) Firewall for security. The print server had to be Ethernet connected to the router while doing the configuration to make it work.
