I put a new battery on my isuzu rodeo but I put it on wrong so I made the positive touch the negative and the negative touch the positive and it blew a fuse some where and the car will start up but the battery wont stay charged we have checkied the alternater but its not that what do you think it is

Whomever 'he' is, the one that hooked up the battery the wrong way, will have done all sorts of damage to the electronic modules and in particular the Engine Control Module (none start) and the Body Control Module (wipers). Your car ideally needs 13.2 volts to start. You need an auto electrician with a $5,000 scan tool computer to diagnose the electrical damage and fix. Get the fuel gauge fixed at the same time.
positive cable is red and negative is black or on top of the battery there are markings.One straight line across signifies negative and a cross like this + means positive.I hope i helped.Happy new year.
The first thing to do is to remove the negative cable before the positive cable to prevent any shock and sparks. Battery cables have a nut and bolt keeping the lead made connector snug to the terminal of the battery. After loosening the nut you will need a pair of channel lock pliers to wiggle the battery cables end attached to the battery This will spread the connector open some to remove

Underhood fuse block swap out relay #7 thats the ECM relay. Ground Circuits Using a DVOM, touch negative voltmeter lead to a good ground. Touch positive voltmeter lead to each ground terminal. With vehicle running, voltmeter should indicate less than one volt. If reading is greater than one volt, check for open, corrosion and loose connection on ground lead. There will be a fuse under your hood and one inside the car. The one inside the car can be either under the dash (drivers or passengers), side of the dash where the door meets the dash (drivers or passengers), kick panel by door (drivers or passengers), main console (drivers or passengers)
