Please follow the instructions below to verify that the MF4570dn is selected under the network settings of the MF Toolbox program:
1. Select [Applications] under [GO].
2. Select [Canon MF Utilities] > [MF Toolbox 4.9].
3. You may receive an error that the scanner is not connected. This is fine.
4. Click [MF Toolbox] next to the Apple icon in the left corner of the screen and select [Network Settings].
5. Select the [MF4500C Series], and then click on the [+] symbol and select [Add].
6. Quit the MF Toolbox program.
Next, follow the instructions below to perform a scan and verify if you experience the same error:
1. Verify that MF Toolbox is closed on the computer.
2. Place the documents in the feeder and press the [SCAN] button on the printer.
3. Highlight [Remote Scanner] and press [OK]. The screen will show, "Remote Scanner. Waiting online...".
4. On the computer, open [Applications] > [Canon MF Utilities] > [Canon MF Toolbox].
5. Select [PDF].
6. Change the source from [Platen Glass] to [Feeder] or [Auto].
7. Click [OK].
8. Click [Scanner] at the top of the desktop screen and select the [MF8200C Series].
9. Select [PDF].
10. Click the green [START] button on the [PDF] window. The machine will start processing the scan.
If the error persists, I recommend that you contact us at 1-800-OK-CANON (1-800-652-2666).

Cant scan with my trusty old AGFA SnapScan 1212u with Lion OSX

I've got a solution where you won't spend any dime on it. It's a long road, but in few words, you need to install SANE for Mac, get the SnapScan1212U.bin file (you can get it from the Windows Installer), and a scanning software such as Snac for Mac, and/or Adobe Acrobat X.
I'll prepare a HOWTO only if someone really needs it.
Greetings,Diego.

My ScanSnap has worked flawlessly for years. I just tried to scan and got the following message: undefined error occurred.(0xffffdcf7) Won't scan. Tried to reboot - no luck. Let me know...

The same thing happened to me. In a nutshell, you have to install new drivers. Have you recently upgraded your system to SnowLeopard or Lion? I did, and that's what went wrong.

To do:
1. Make sure you have the latest ScanSnap manager: http://www.fujitsu.com/global/support/computing/peripheral/scanners/drivers/mac.html
Install that.
2. Get the Lion update: http://www.fujitsu.com/global/support/computing/peripheral/scanners/drivers/mac-mg22.html
Install that.
3. Open the new ScanSnap Manager (v 2.2). Delete the old one from your dock, so you don't get confused.
4. Scan away.

Epson Scan Reporting "Unable to write file" when scanning a photo on a Mac.

Do you have sufficient disc space? That is the only reason you should see an error like this.
