the machine freezes and stops based on the thickness of the slush. if it's mixed right, the problem is the torque switch next to the motor (if it's a cab or a ugo machine) or the torque sensor (for torque sensor models)

depends on the slush machine. if it's a cab or ugolini, it won't go into defrost or it'll just go warm instead of refrigerated. easy way to test on a cab faby- put the timer on defrost when the product is not frozen, turn the right auger on then off. if the compressor did not go on and off, the thermostat is bad. same for a ugolini, but it'll work with both sides, so turn one off. if you have a bunn ultra 2, the display will let you know there is a thermostat issue. if you have a bunn cds 2, it works the same as a ugolini.

if you open the back and check the leads on the motor with a voltmeter and you don't get voltage, make sure the switches are working and connected. if there is voltage and the motors spin but the auger end does not, one of the gears are stripped of the bushings are worn and the gears do not mesh. if the bushings are the case, you can remove the back of the motor, remove the gears, pop out the bushings and flip the over. they may be good enough on the other side. if the motor gets hot but does not spin, you'll have to remove it and clean it. if you have a ugolini non-magnetic (if the shaft goes all the way through to the auger), you'll also need new rear seals.

check your mix. if it's too lean (not enough syrup base), it'll freeze too quickly. if the auger stops moving when it's freezing, you blew a gear and it won't know when to stop freezing. also if the torque spring on the right side of the motor (through the back) is broken or missing, same thing.

check the left side condenser coils, make sure they're clean. there might be low air flow, and that'll cause the compressor to overheat and shut off. leave at least 6 inches of space on both sides of the machine for it to breathe. also if the ambient temp is too hot, same thing.

check the airflow. if the condenser coil on the left side is clogged with dust, it won't chill. remove the side, clean the fins, and try again. also check the fan. if it's not moving very fast, replace it.

make sure it'son it's own 15 amp circuit. also, see if the defrost timer is on.
