Touchpad won't scroll

Hello everybody, the touchpad on my acer laptop has lost his scroll-function. I only can go through website and documents by using an usb-mouse or the arrow keys. I already tried to change the settings, but I only can change settings of regular mouses. I cant find the touchpad. The regular touchpad cursor works though.

If you can log in by pressing the f8 key in safe mode, then try the system restore. If it doesn't work, it could be very well be a hardware failure.

Touchpad scroll function not working

Hello,

The touch pad (acer) sometimes get disabled. To enable your touchpad, restarting your computer may help. However, if it doesn't then do the following steps:

  • Go to Control Panel > Mouse > Settings
  • Click Enable (or Disable to disable)

11_15_2012_3_48_14_am.png

Notes:
  • On some models, there is a keyboard shortcut to activate or deactivate the touchpad. Press FN + F7
  • You can click "Reset device" if neither of those solutions work
  • The official website provides synaptics drivers and software needed to run your TouchPad
NOTE: If you want to make sure that all your drivers are up to date. You can download RadarSync to your computer. This is a must for your operating system. I highly recommend this because it can update your driver including your touchpad's driver. You don't need to go to synaptics or any website anymore because RadarSync will do it for you. With just a click of a mouse, then your computer will be taken care of.

If you have the same problem, right after doing the above steps please let me know. I would be very glad to help you out.

Thank you for using fixya.com. Have a nice day ahead!

How do i turn on the scrolling on my acer laptop

To fix an unresponsive touchpad on your laptop, reactivate it by using the Function key on the keyboard and the Fn key.

This process is different for each computer manufacturer.
If unsure which Function key enables and disables the touchpad, try each one at a time and then
attempt to use the touchpad after each one.

A...Locate the "Fn" key of the laptop keyboard.
The "Fn" key has different colored text or the key is a different color.
B...Locate the function (F1 through F12) key at the top of the keyboard that disables or enables the touchpad on the laptop.
The key typically has an icon that resembles a touchpad with a finger touching it or a touchpad with a diagonal line through it.
C...Press both the "Fn" and touchpad Function key at the same time to reactive the touchpad on your laptop.
Move your finger along the touchpad to verify that it works. Press the combination at any time to disable the touchpad again

The easiest and fastest way to fix this problem is to go to Acers website. This link is to the drivers page where you can download http://us.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/drivers. Install the synaptics touchpad drivers. This should fix the issue you have.

I'm installing win7 on my old p30 laptop, and everything has worked except the wireless card. It can't install the driver. I found the winXP one from the samsung website, but when I try and install this...

Unfortunately, when upgrading to Windows 7 from XP or older operating systems, sometimes some functionality is lost that was there with the old operating system.

In my case, with an Acer Aspire from the year 2006, I lost the touchpad scrolling buttons. I couldn't get it to work for the life of me. I downloaded the latest drivers from Acer and from the touchpad manufacturer to no avail.

I wish you luck in finding the right driver for your laptop and Windows 7, but something tells me that it will be futile seeing that you already used one from the Samsung site, which is where I would have gone.

Acer touchpad scroll is not working

Most likely you need to install the driver for your touchpad. The default windows driver allows the touchpad to function but does not give it the extra features such as scrolling. If you go to Acers support site http://support.acer.com/ , you can download the driver for the touchpad. I looked on the site and did not see a 6903 model, did you mean 6930?
Once installed you can go to the control panel, mouse, and see the extra features.
