Why Does My Sharp Microwave Turntable Get Hot?

I hope you didn't run the microwave with nothing in the cavity, if you did, it will damage the magnetron.
The turntable dishes do get hot depending on the quality of the glass used to make it. Heat is caused by impurities in the glass.
If you run it with no food in the oven, the glass will try to absorb the energy with atastrophic results usually.

Manual for a whirlpool microwave oven model wmh31017aw-1

There is no turntable control. It is always on. The turntable should change direction each time the unit is used. If the turntable is not operating, it has malfunctioned. Newer microwaves for the most part all have full-time turntables to promote even heating, thus reducing customer complaints about ovens that don't heat right.

Where can I get a glass turntable

Are you talking about just a new glass plate for your specific oven or a generic turntable mechanism? If just a glass plate, you have provided no brand or model info. Just examine how your old plate engaged - they aren't all the same but some will interchange. There are also inexpensive turntable devices that can be used to retrofit ovens without a rotating mechanism.

My White-Westinghouse Microwave turntable is not turning. Can I still use it?

If the turntable or any part of the turntable assembly is damaged, contact Consumer Relations at 1(800)947-3744 for replacement parts.

Copy and paste this link below into your web browser for the PDF manual for your microwave. I have used one of my microwaves even when the turntable did not work and had no problems. Be safe and call the number above to be sure with your item.

The microwave was accidentally used without the glass turntable

It mkay just be the overload fuse inside the back panel. I highly recommend a certified electrician or repairman to change this. Good luck

Turntable wont stop turning, even when not in use

The turntable is a seperate intenty from the microwave itself, I would presume that the switch that turns off the turntable when the door is opened needs replacement.

It is very hard to find any quailty microwave made today without a turntable.
You can go to Rite-Aid or Walgreens and find them there without turntables.

Turntable sometimes works, mostly doesn't

It sounds like you have a jamming turntable motor.

The turntable system consists of the motor, the coupler, the turntable support with rollers, and the tray.

You can see and hear a video of how a turntable motor should sound when you rotate it by hand.

If yours won't rotate or it sounds like it's grinding, etc., you may have a bad motor or plastic coupler.

To replace either, you need to unplug power, then remove the bottom cover of the oven.

You can usually find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model number here.
