How to clean blue lens in the optical engine

Hello, this set does not have a "blue lens". A Mitsubishi uses a different type of system than like the Sony dlp's that use a 3 lcd system. the Mitsubishi uses a video chip on the video processing board (the DM board) and a color wheel to produce the image and a lamp to light it up. The chip is most likely the issue a fairly costly repair. tks

How to clean mirror and optics mitsubishi 73 dlp

You have to remove the lower panel on the back of your tv, then remove the light engine. Unhook the wires attached to the DMD board. Remove the DMD board. Remove the heat cink from the DMD board. remove the optical lens but don't touch the lens. There is a video on shopjimmy.com that shows the entire procedure. Takes 2 hours. The optical lens can be cleaned with an eyeglass cloth, same for the DLP chip lens. no wet solutions on lenses. Remove dust from other internal parts with compressed air in a can. Your picture will be clean and clear. Wear latex gloves and make sure you are grounded to prevent static electricity.

My Mitsubishi wd-62531 has a yellow hue over half of the screen. What do i need to do to fix it?

Not a cleaning issue.

The lamp shines into a OPTICAL LIGHT ENGINE, which has a series of lens and baffles---blue is the first part of the engine to get that light and heat---in your case the blue area is damaged from the heat----minus blue equals yellow.

The entire engine would have to be replaced--not a cheap part--Google the model number with "light engine" to get an idea of cost.

May be time to either use it as is or ?

How can I clean the lamp lenses on my Mitsubishi WD-55857 rear projection TV

I would not attempt that if I were you----The lamp itself has a glass lens but any touching will shorten its life---this set also has a optical lens at the top of the light engine but it rarely if ever needs cleaning.

The tv looks good but it is all blue.

mendieta1866,

When you say that the unit looks good I must assume that you mean it is sharp and clear but has a blue tint over the screen. If this is the case then you have a bad optical engine and will need to replace it. I have a tip at http://www.fixya.com/support/r4251975-replace_dlp_light_engine which explains the process as well as where to get the parts.

Thanks for using FixYa and for the great rating.

The picture is dull, what i have to do for the TV?

The usual cause of the DLP's geeting dull is the front small projection mirror gets dusty and needs cleaning. The mirror is located dead center in the front after removing the screen assembly. Its a small mirror directly in front of the lens assembly of the light engine.

Has an overall green tint on a 62 inch hdtv

If you are using Coponet Cables from a Cable box or Satillite, make sure the blue connection is good and not backed off it's connector at both pieces of equipment. If it has a good connection at both pieces of eqipment I would
suspect the Optical block being faulty.
Let's pray for the loose cable connection.
Hope this helps,
