When I would turn my TV Off at night, and then turn it back on the next day,the picture would have shadowy vertical lines over the entire screen. I then tried NOT turning off the TV on/off power, but

The picture always has shadowy vertical lines, and I can't ever get a nice clear picture.

I have the same problem. The only way to get the TV to come on is to unplug it, but once you get it back on it turns itself off again in a few minutes.

The hyperboard solution by premtech worked perfectly. FYI, the board can be refurbished on your own, provided you are able to handle soldering small surface mount components.

We also have vertical lines with our JVC 62"... turning it off and letting it cool down is the only solution. For us, we know it's a problem with heat. We simply are wits end on fixing it. added two additional fans, a exterior fan to blow heat away from the back of the tv, pulled everything else away, etc.... Anyway, goodluck.

SOURCE: toshiba 46H84 tv turned off light blinking

The TV is on protect mode.

Try first leaving the TV power cord unplugged for some times, let say one hour or so.

Also ensure that the fault is not coming from a faulty receiver box sending bad signal, check if you get same problem with no receiver box or dvd connected.

If that does not work, and you keep having a flashing led on front of the TV, and tv turning off by itself after a while, that indicates a fault condition.

The flashing light indicates a diagnostic state called protection.
When the TV goes on protection there are only two possible reasons.

1The internal circuits are jammed because of electrostatic charges accumulating on capacitors, or because of a wrong voltage read by the main chip on your monitor controller board. this started the protection circuit.

2 The protection circuit detected a wrong voltage or abroken contact, identified an internal fault and kicked in , startingthe flashing light.

If you are in situation one, then theTV will reset just unplugging power cord for one or two hours, sometimes even minutes.

If you are in situation 2 , then there is an internal fault.

Common faults that can occur are a blown capacitor on power board, a convergence IC has blown, or a fault on Digital board.

Check also the video cable or any external connection cable, if the cable is shorting, or the connector is bad, you can get same flashing state because of the video cable.

If under warranty contact the manufacturer ringing the number on the user manual

If you want to repair at your own expenses, just locate any good qualified repairer.

Vertical color lines

I had the same thing happen to me this morning. I turned on the TV and it had colored vertical lines through the whole screen. I called Sony and they had me unplug the TV for about 15 minutes. This solved the problem. They said the boards just needed to be reset. It fixed the problem and I am happy with my Sony once again.

Picture vanished

The problem might have started because of loose conections in the vertical circuit,if the vertical circuit fails completly the screen blanks out to prevent a line being burnt in the picture tube so that part is normal but the problem is still in the vertical circuit.Maybe the IC just went bad all the way and it might have taken a fusible resistor. If you are familiar with tv service you have a place to check but if you are not too familiar be safe and call for assistance from a servicer,is a straight forward problem and it should not be expensive.Let US know how it goes or if you need more information.

White lines on screen

im sorry my friend I do not understand what a funny marrior is? LOL If your complaining about white lines at only the top of the picture, then I would say that your problem is with the vertical sweep circuit. Most likly a capacitor in the vertical preamp really small ones next to the jungle IC or the capacitors that are used as waveshapers in the vertical drive and output. If the entire screen is white lines then the screen drive is too high so back it down till the lines just disapear. if that wont turn down, theres a filter cap on the sweeop supply or the CRT socket board is bad. Good Luck
