Annoying projector noise

I have long suffered with the constant and annoying growling noise from the projectors (or their cooling fans) in this unit.  It is similar to the noise from the compressor in a large refrigerator.  Is there a replacement part that can make this unit less noisy?

I went through a huge hassle about the fan noise on my JVC 52-inch, but they refused to do anything about it. Likewise, the retailer (BuyDig.com) refused to accept a return "once the box has been opened."

The noise is way out of line - we have to turn the sound up all the time to drown out the damned fan. We've tried repositioning the TV, propping it up off the table surface... nothing has helped. The next thing I may try is to build some ducting for it, but it's been this way from day one, and JVC is well aware of the problem.

I'll never buy another JVC product.

Kodak slide projector 4400 developed a noise when last used. Is it safe to continue using?

If the new noise is constant, check the cooling fan for debris of some sort stuck in it.
Do not use the projector if the fan is not working as it might overheat and ruin your slides.

Noisy

Something is catching on the fan blades. Possibly a screw or piece of plastic has come loose and is connecting with the fan blades when you switch it on. When the projector has been cool for a few hours remove the lamp and gently shake the unit to dislodge whatever is catching on the fan.

I have dell 3300mp,when I turn the power on it makes a very loud noise. It does not make the sound in standby or cool down. It does work and display a signal okay, but it is very loud. Sound like a fan?,...

The main fan that cools the lamp is mostly high speed when the unit is running. when it shuts down it slows the fan down, until it stops in standby. So the noise is only really loud when it is showing a picture.

try setting the fan to eco mode (slower running) and see if the noise is acceptable. If it is still too loud then you will have to replace it. Have a look at the fan and see if any of the plastic blades are missing.

M400 after start gives annoying vibration noise (sounds like from the fan, but might be any rotating part) Screen is working ok

hi,
There are two possibilities.
1. The lamp cooling fan faulty
2. Bearing of color wheel get damaged.
Any one of these to can make such vibration noise. Check both things.
ok

Viewsonic Projector PJ506D not working

proable solution the cooling fan is giving problems. the whistling sound most likely is fan rubbing on a wire??? The unit gets over heated and turns off for protection. Good luck

My projector makes a really annoying noise

It is also possible that the bearing is going bad on the fan. I'd look into getting a replacement fan if that's the case. It is probably cheaper than a replacement bulb that would be needed if the fan failed entirely.

Fan noise loud, bulb burst. Replaced with new bulb. Noise even louder! Unit shuts itself off.

the bulb may have burst from overheating from a fan not working to cool it down. and it can be replaced. it does take, however, a while to replace it because you have to take half of it apart. but make sure it's the fan first. take the lamp door off and remove the lamp. use something small and thin to push in the switch that the lamp door usually activates. turn the projector on and see if the lamp fan and the colorwheel (the multicolor glass disk) are spinning. if the fan spins, the noise may be from the colorwheel motor going bad. the fan can be purchased through an infocus authorized service center. check the website for the closest one. but the colorwheel for the x1 cannot be purchased seperately from the optical engine, and that costs a fortune. but here is the part number for the 80mm fan- 526-0152-00.

NEC LT260 PROJECTOR NOISE

To open this projector, you need to undo six screws at the underside of the case. That means you have to turn the projector upsidedown.
Pls note that one of these scews is a little hidden under the carrying handle.
After removing the screws, return the projector to it's normal 'up-side' up, standing position.
Remove the bulb cover srews and remove the bulb cover.
Lift up the top cover carefully starting from the front then all together.
The cooling fan is mounted very near the bulb assembly.
Carefully check the fan blades for any obtacles, wires or even a broken fan blade, that could be causing the noise.
