While using the unit this morning it stopped and the door latch unclicked and allowed the door to come open. I tried to close the door to continue but it won't close.

Verlin, this is JK. I understand that you are having concerns with the door latch. Before considering contacting a service provider, I would recommend resetting the appliance by turning off the power to the washer for about five minutes. After the five minutes return power to the appliance, this should allow the washer to return to working condition. You may also want to check to ensure the door is aligned. If all of these suggestions pan out and the problem still persists, think about what may have happened prior to this occurrence. For instance, did you notice any error codes, odors, or other strange functions prior to this issue? If you are still having these issues and can think of anything in particular, please feel free to reconnect. Hope this helps!

How do I get my drivers door open...I have tried the key and electric locks but drivers door will not open

It appears to me that the door hinge bushings have worn out , do not force the inner or outer door handles. Lower the window and use the top part of the window frame to left up on the door to release the weight on the door latch and try to open it. If this allows the door to open your hinge bushing are worn out and allowing the door to sag putting it's weight on the door latch. This is common on drivers doors because of being the most used.

Battery door won't stay closed on Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-S90 Digital Camera

The battery door latch is most likely damaged/broken. Try using a piece of duct tape to keep it closed. I've done this on several cameras with battery door latch issues & the doors stayed shut just fine.

Frigidaire Gallery Microware door doesn't latch

I experienced the same problem. The solution was easy, for me at least. Remove the door. pry loose the plastic liner that covers the inside of door. remove the four screws that hold the glass unit in place. You will find rattling around inside a spring about an inch long and a broken plastic piece about an inch and a half tall. On my unit the plastic piece was still hanging on by a thread which gave me a clear understanding of how the door latch is supposed to work. Remove the plastic latch unit which is designed to slide on the two posts about three eights of on inch distance under the pressure of the spring. Problem is loss of spring induced pressure.
The repair: ( I used my bandsaw to do this) fashion a piece of wood with indentations that correspond to the plastic ribs enabling the wood to sit perfectly into the space. Drill a hole at the point where the inch and a half "anchor post" broke off and insert a dowel of same length. I carved a shallow indentation for the spring, pressed the spring on with needle nose pliers, replaced the sliding latch mechanism, attached other end of spring to the latch. I drilled into the exterior plastic door frame and installed a flat head screw to hold the wood repair piece solidly in place. Re-install pieces removed earlier and you have a happy, functioning Frigidaire gallery micro at your service. Took an hour.

Frigidaire front loading washer door won't lock and is stuck on pause

Good Morning Mary, thank you for allowing me to assist you.

Let's try resetting the washer. This can be done by either unplugging it or flipping the household circuit to the off position. It is important to wait roughly ten minutes and then turn on the unit. Now close the door and select a cycle. If the issue persists, then more than likely the unit could either be experiencing a communication issue with the control board and the door latch or the door latch assembly strike is not securely latching correctly and advising the sensor that the door is properly closed.

The dishwasher door snaps open, stopping cycle. The friction catch often requires multiple presses to hold closed sufficient to allow the cycle to begin. I would like to know what adjustments are required...

Hello,

Welcome to FixYa.

I suspect based on your description...it is the door strike that is likely fatigued as is common with these machines, thus allowing the door to "pop" open. The latch doesn't hold it closed, it just activates the switches, the strike is designed to hold it closed.

It is part # 8574157 and will look like the image here...

macmarkus_678.jpg

You do not need to remove the control panel to access the strike for the door latch assembly. It is done simply by pulling up (may need a flat screwdriver or the like) on the latch and forward. The new one also simply clips in place.

**make sure to turn off the breaker/power before servicing the unit...safety first**

Let me know if you need any further assistance and I will try to help in any manner I can. Good luck,

Regards,

Macmarkus :)

Driver door won't close 1999 ford contour

Drivers side door will not close because, it might have dropped out of alignment and is sagging down slightly!!! or if it has electric door locks, and someone in the family has failed to mention door locks were activated while that one door was still open!!! now lock mechanism has passed it's normal stopping place and is now stuck, therefore already locked and not allowing door to close all the way!! you might try disconnecting battery then try jiggling the lock, and hope silenoid didn't get burned out, open passenger door and look at lock latch, then check drivers side lock latch!!! if your lucky lock latch should unlock when battery is hooked back up. i have seen this problems happen often on older vehicles!!! especially on cars or trucks that have been in fender benders.........body shops know what to check for, they fix problems like this often!!!!! Good luck!!

Probably a broken latch assembly.. UNPLUG UNIT!! Remove inner door panel to access. Also check for broken tabs on onside of console where latch assembly rests.
