How to adjust the screen display on a Husqvarna 936 serger

Hello Susan.
All the different screen display adjustments are found starting on page 10 in the manual. If the manual is not readily available, here is a free link: Viking Huskylock 936 User Manual Sewing Advisor Display Function
The screen contrast is not adjustable on the Husqvarna 936 serger.
Happy stitching.

Why does my 936 serger keep showing overloaded ?

My suspicion is that Viking sergers (905, 910, 936) bind up after heavy use and years of service. In other words, they are not "lubricated for life". Can you turn the handwheel on the machine? If not (or if extremely hard), you now know what the motor was dealing with. My guess is the motor is burned out, but you need both a total overhaul of the main shaft bearing system (cleaning the bearing and relubrication), and, a new motor.
I probably should consider repairing sewing machines in my retirement.

I was given a Husqvarna Serger 936. I do not

You might want to visit your nearest authorized dealer and review their website for additional info. You have a fantastic machine and recommend you learn how to use it. You can locate a dealer near you by visiting the husqvarna viking website and clicking on the Dealer link on the left-hand side of the page - http://www.husqvarnaviking.com

Good luck.

I'm looking for a reference gauge

There is only one guage for the 936 and you have to be a dealer to get one from Husqvarna. It's not impossible to set the serger up without it. But you need to know the setting and clearance values to set it properly. A service manual would of course have all those values if you can find one.
As far as a foot for it, you're local dealer should have it. There is a dealer locator on their web site, just put in your zip code and your nearest dealer will come up.

My Husqvarna 936 Serger is giving me a "overloaded" message on the screen. I am serging the edge of a sheet. Please advise.

This happened the first time I used a 936. I had borrowed it from a friend. Fortunately she was with me. the dealer found it needed to be oiled in places amateurs should not go. That was all it took. Oiling all the moveable parts.
