POWER FAILURE.. you lost power to the dishwasher either whole house or just dishwasher,,,not sure why we need the dishwasher to tell us that we lost power, but too many can cook the control board,,,did mine. good luck
assuming the power circuit breaker is ok and you are getting power to the dishwasher itself, there are other factors that could lead to an outcome of dishwasher not appearing to be powering up. The most likely cause is power supply inside dishwasher is faulty, the controller is faulty or simply the dishwasher display panel is faulty. More likely the dishwasher has suffered a "thermal" trip. The thermal fuse located in the control panel on the door has blown. You may need to replace it. It is item 6 on this diagram

I am not an expert in dishwashers but most appliances do a hard power reset by removing the power supply for at least 15 seconds.. You might be able to turn the circuit breaker off for power(ie 15amp)in your power box for your house as your dishwasher is probably hard wired..*NOTE. If it has its own power point-turn that off only***
HI, there are four problem spots that i recommend checking. these are the most common hot spots for a non responsive dishwasher. Check each area thoroughly to address this issue.
1. No power to the dishwasher Make sure there's power getting to the dishwasher. Check for a tripped circuit breaker or a blown fuse. Check the wall socket for power. Sometimes the power cord disconnects at the dishwasher (inside the junction box, behind the bottom kick panel), if this is the case, the wiring must be repaired or replaced.
2. Door switch Replace if defective.
3. Timer Replace if defective (note: uncommon problem).
4. Selector switch Replace if defective (note: uncommon problem).
My dishwasher will not start: Most common d/w power is 120 volts, check for 120 volts with avolt meter at themain power harness where it enters into the dishwasher, you will have to remove the lower access panels to get to the power box. Dishwashers also have at least one and most newer dishwashers have two door switches that must be checked. You will find then behind the console at the door latch area. Each manufacture has different designs but this is a picture of what some of the newer dishwasher switches look like.
