Question about HP Photosmart 2710 All-In-One InkJet Printer

1 Answer

HP Photosmart 2710 (Wireless)

I have a printer, and unfortunately haven't been able to use it for a good 5 months now.  It was working fine, and then suddenly it gave me a paper jam error.  Unfortunately when I checked it, it didn't have a paper jam.  What I noticed was there is a little thing on the right hand side.  This thing has a little rubber to protect it I'm assuming, well the ink I suppose is supposed to jump it when it's going to print, but it's not.  The cartridges don't move.  I tried pushing the thing back to get the cartridge to the other side, and I can do that, but then when I close it and try to clear it, it jumps it the other way, and then I open it and the rubber is loose, and the cartridge is once again on the right hand side.  Is there anything I can do to fix it?  I really like this printer, and can't really afford to buy a new one.  Thanks.

Introduction
The flashing error code that indicates a jammed printer is the digital-age equivalent of a
flat tire. Sooner or later it happens to everyone, so you'd better know how to get things
moving again if you want to finish your print job.
Instructions
Difficulty: Moderate Steps
1 Step One Turn the printer off and on to see if it can automatically clear some or all of
the jam. Many printers provide an error-code listing on the front panel display for the area
where the jam occurred. If your printer shows an error code, be sure and check the printer
manual to see if that identifies the area of the printer where the jam occurred.

2Step Two Turn off the printer.
3Step Three Remove any paper trays. Inspect them for wrinkled or damaged paper.

4Step Four Open any other doors that give access to the printer's paper path and to the
toner or ink cartridge.
5Step Five If necessary, remove the toner or ink cartridge. Place it in a bag or away from
light to avoid damaging it.

6Step Six Click to enlargeIf you find a piece of jammed paper, remove it by holding it with
both hands and pulling firmly (see A). The goal is to keep the paper from tearing. If
several pieces are jammed together, try pulling out the middle piece first to loosen the
jam. SEE PICS http://www.imagehost.ro/pict/0104361047293b9a4006c.jpg

7Step Seven Click to enlargeIf the paper does tear, try rotating the roller gears manually
to free the paper (see B). Don't force anything, though.SEE PICS

8Step Eight Replace the toner or ink cartridge and paper trays, close any doors you opened
and turn the printer back on.
9Step Nine If the printer paper jam message still appears, then there is still some paper in
the printer.
 Reinspect the paper path.

Printer is jamming up

Hello there Ok try see if this will help
This may work for you, it has worked for many here I given this advice so gave it a try it could work for you.
Generally when this happens, something has fallen into the printer, or a piece of paper has been jammed in there.

First step, remove the ink cartridge, and turn the printer upside down and gently shake it, see if anything comes out.

If nothing goes, or you can't hear anything rattling around, get a piece of cardstock paper (60lb or heavier) and gently push this through the printer, to see if it will help push out what might be stuck in there.

And gave the rode that the ink slides on a good clean and maybe a bit oil on cloth and wipe the rod with it.

Also clean The purge unit, called a spittoon assembly in an HP, Lexmark, Caonon and other inkjet printers, is where the print head assembly parks when not in use, also its other job is to clean and make sure the print head is clean and open for printing.

That is where you'll find the print head assembly parked on top of it.
It also has an electrical pump to milk the print heads and test for ink flow.

So clean all under where the heads are parked and on IP6600D models you can take out the heads just by clipping them out, and then clean well.

Paper loads to the left and causes a paper jam every time. I've tried turning the printer off, adding more paper, etc. I've only had this a month!

My Kodak ESP5 keeps saying "Paper Jam please remove paper jam" But there is no paper in it?

My esp 5 gave me this same message. I'm not an expert but here is what worked for me.

I turned off and disconnected both cables (usb and power) then reconnected and turned on.
At this point it still read paper jam, so I took ink cartridges out and paper out.
I then reinstalled ink cartridges and PULLED OUT THE PAPER TRAY to it's FULL capacity, added about 5 sheets of paper, and on the main menu I chose the allignment function and printed a test page and suddenly....no jam!
Hope this works for someone. For some reason pulling the tray all the way out cleared the "jam" message for me. Now if I could just get the new ink cart to work I'd be all set! Good Luck!
