Stopped working I was shredding a lot of documents and it stopped, a red light came on. Does it need to rest? how long?

The HSM Securio B24 is a high-security paper shredder that is designed to shred sensitive documents into extremely small particles to protect against identity theft and other types of data breaches. It is capable of shredding up to 24 sheets of paper at a time and can also shred staples, paper clips, and credit cards.

Reverse shredder and clean out as much paper shred as possible. Use some lube oil. Hairclipper oil and canola vegetable oil are good choices.

Most home shredders overheat after a while, and stop working for 10, 15 minutes or more. It should reset once it cools down, as long as the blades aren't jammed with stuff that shouldn't be shredded.

You must first unplug it and look inside the shredding blades, especially around the spot usually near the center, where there is a pressure button. When paper hits it, it starts shredding. Chances are some pieces of paper have jammed just over it stopping paper from hitting it and switching it on. I have had to use long tweezers to work the jammed bits out... Once clear it will work again. Also using shredder oil every 50 sheets through will help it cut easier , and jam less frequently. Do not put too many sheets through together in a bunch. No staples...

If place too many pages in the shredder the motor will be overworked and it will overheat and shut down until it has cooled down. Try shredding fewer pages at a time.

Try soaking the cutter blades with hot soapy water overnight thru the feed slot

Try pouring some shredder oil into the throat where you normally insert the paper and run the machine in reverse.Put machine back into ready condition.
Put a piece of paper in the throat just enough so the machine should run but not all the way in so that the cutting mechanism catches the paper...all you want to do is make the machine run forwards but not actually be feeding in any paper.
