Sounds like a main board fault. Contact any service technician to confirm.

You can also try a hard reset: Unplug TV from AC mains and remove all cables from TV. Wait about 30 minutes and replug to AC power and redo the cabling. Switch on the TV and see if it works..

SOURCE: screen black - power to tv is good.

Since the set is only 8months old, it should still be under warranty. Please contact the manufacturer for directions on how and where to get this serviced. This should be fixed at no cost to you.

SOURCE: We were changing channels on Westinghouse

This sounds like the inverter board has gone out. The inverter board is in charge of turning on and off the back light. If this goes out the TV is still able to fully function meaning you will still get power indicator to turn on, but since the back light is off you cannot see anything on the screen. You will need to replace this part so your TV can be fully functional again. For more information on how to replace, obtaining the correct part #, and parts as well as price availability please send me a quick email to [email protected]. I was watching T.V. and when I went to change the channel, the remote control wouldn't respond. I changed the batteries (generic) & the new ones didn't make the remote work either. I hit the power...

You won't be able to see the light from remote's LED (Light Emitting Diode) because it is IR (Infra Red) which is invisible to the human eye.

Try re-entering the code for your tv to see if it works.

If that doesn't work, the remote might have just died. It happens.

Get yourself a new UNIVERSAL REMOTE for less than $20 and just program it for your tv.

Good luck and post back to let us know how it works out.

I need the code for the philmore pm-rc1a so i cant watch my tv!

Try this as most remote controls work the same when manual setting.
Here you go. This will work with most all universal remote controls. If you don't have the code do the following:
Automatic Programming
With automatic programming, the remote control tests all the codes available on the Code List and assigns the correct code for the selected device. Although this method can be more time-consuming, it eliminates the need to look up codes and enter them manually.

1. Turn off the device with which you want to use the remote control.

2. Press and hold the corresponding button on the remote control
(TV, VCR, SAT, DVD, CAB or AUD) until POWER INDICATOR illuminates. It should take a couple of seconds for the light to remain solid. The remote control is in programming mode.

3. Press and release power button. The POWER INDICATOR flashes once and stays on indicating the unit is in Power Scan mode.

4. Press CHANNEL up or CHANNEL down repeatedly until the device turns on.

5. When the device turns on, press OK to store the code.

Note:
• To exit without storing the code, press BACK.
• T he unit will search for the next code or the previous code if you press
CHANNEL up or CHANNEL down after the device turns on. (go slow you need to press OK when the TV turns on) if you mess up turn TV off and start over.
6. Press any other button. If the device responds, the remote control has been programmed. If the device does not respond, repeat steps 2-5.

Lost remote to portable dvd player

Any universal remote will work. Just look on the back of it to make sure it supports your brand. That's the key. Just follow the directions for manual input. It will work something like this.

Vcr does not run

Try changing the channels on the VCR itself. If you can do that, then it would indicate a problem with the VCR's remote. If you are still unable to change channels on the VCR manually, it could indicate a circuitry problem, for which you will have to get the VCR serviced.

Systemlink3

  1. Make sure the device you are programming is turned off.
  2. Press and hold CODE SEARCH.
  3. Press and release TV, VCR, or CABLE corresponding to the device to be controlled. The indicator light will flash once to indicate the search is enabled.
  4. Release CODESEARCH.
  5. Press OFF/ON repeatedly until the device turns on.
  6. Press CHANNEL V (channel down) for verification. DO NOT press any other buttons at this time.
If the channel changes on the device, the code is valid. Press ENTER to complete the search.

If the channel does not change, turn off the device (without attempting to use the remote). Then continue search by repeating steps 5-6. When all codes have been searched, the indicator light will flash twice and the remote will return to the normal mode.

I went to add/delete channels in my menu on my symphonic and it let me scroll through the channels, make sure you have them all set to add (by pushing the volume buttons to make them light blue instead of purple)....after adding all of your channels (or just the one if you use dish) just power the tv off while on a channel and then power back on and you should have tv.

TV Changes Channels by itself

The keyboard switches are going bad part# 432P109010 (there are ten of them). To verify this, disconnect the connecting wire to the keyboard pc board and see if you still have the problem- the remote will still function normal- the green power led will not light up when you power on the TV with it disconnected so listen for the click and wait for the TV to power up when you use the remote.
