ATM PIN Number Reversal - Good to Know !!

If you should ever be forced by a robber to withdraw money from an ATM machine, you can notify the police by entering your PIN in reverse. For example, if your pin number is 1234, then you would put in 4321. The ATM system recognizes that your PIN number is backwards from the ATM card you placed in the machine. The machine will still give you the money you requested, but unknown to the robber, the police will be immediately dispatched to the location. All ATM's carry this emergency sequencer by law. This information was recently broadcast on Crime Stoppers however it is seldom used because people just don't know about it. SOURCE: i blocked my atm by

It will be blocked on that ATM for a short amount of time only. You should be able to use another ATM and be fine. If not, then you may need to call customer service at your bank and let them know what happened so they do not think it is a fraud attempt.

SOURCE: i forgotten my pin number

Hi You need to go to the post office in person, take with you your Passport and some form of utility bill with your name and address on, and ask them to give you a Temporary PIN number
once you have the new number Change it straight away for one you will remember,
alternatively you could tell the post office you have lost your card and the pin they will replace both within a week or so.

Good Luck

SOURCE: when I enter my mastercard

Hi, STOP !! using your card NOW and call your banks 24 hour cancellation line and tell them, because you could be held liable for anything spent on your card, if there is a second one in circulation all cards are issued to an account number but do yourself a big favor and cancel it now.
as for Pay Pal i have had major problems with them and Fraudulent access to my account so that is what i did and canceled my card and the bank issued me a new one within days.
Good Luck

go with your ATM card to the ATM machine, insert the card in the machine then look at the ATM screen waiting for instructions, it will ask you for a pin and u type in your pin
then you will press the button besides the machine on the amount of money you will want to withdraw
then after that you will wait for a few seconds and then the ATM card will come out, followed by the amount of money and finally the receipt

Is using the backwards pin number at an atm machine true that it will notify police

Not true...they are not compatible and are not used in ATM as it would cause security vulnerability.

Typing in ur ATM # in reverse...(a robber forcing you to)...the Bank will notify the Police?

This is an urban myth. You can try it as a tactic, but no bank has admitted to implementing this. What chances they are all keeping it secret?

Reversal of ATM cards notify police

Hi Jeannie

Yes that is correct, what happens is you input your pin in the wrong way round ie if your pin is 1234 and you input it as 4321 you still actually get the money as well but as the money is dispensed an automatic alarm is triggered ( silent) and then that informs the police that something is wrong at that bank ( not the cashpoint as such ) hope this helps
