Refrigerator will not stay cold

  1. I have a frigidaire, side by side model.  I just moved and now the refrigerator temperature stays at 60 or higher, spoiling all food.  I changed the water filter, to see if that would help because it does not make ice either.  What can I do to avoid the repair cost and get this thing working properly

we moved the side by side whirlpool. Was very careful in not tipping it more than we had to and was very careful not to bump around too much. I thought it done very well. Now its been 12 hours and the thing is not cooling at all... It cooled perfectly before the move. Done nothing other than cleaned the coils under the bottom. still nothing.

Bought a second hand fridge that was running well. We layed the fridge on it's side for moving and let it stand upright for at least 4 hours. The moving was only 45 minutes. The freezer is semi-cold but the main body of the fridge stays at aprox. 68 degrees. Any solutions.

There's a heater element below in back panel connected to thermostat in refrig which turns on when too much ice builds blocking air flow from bottom to top of freezer. Use hot air gun to manually defrost ice build up blocking vents in back near bottomof
freezer. controller to thermostat defective or malfunction. seems to be common problem.

Just moved and refrigerator is not staying cold, can anyone help me

Hi,
Here is a tip that I wrote on moving refrigerators...if you did not do it thisway then you may well have ruined a perfectly good refrigerator.

Moving a Refrigerator What is the best way

If you already have moved it wrong, you can sometimes get it working byplugging it in and unplugging it a number of times with an hour or so inbetween.

Freezer works, frig doesn't

there is a fan on many newer units that blows cold air from the freezer side to the frig. If that fan is not working, the frig will be cool, but not 34° like you want it.

Refrigerator will not stay cold

Eeeh, this will prevent you to spend more than you have. Carefully unplug your fridge, remove it from the wall for about 1 foot wait 15 mins and plug back and let it stay there for ever.

Food stays frozen regardless of temperature setting

It is possible it has a bad thermostat but most likely cause would be a bad damper motor.  It is the vent inside the fridge that opens and closes, based on temp. setting, to allow cold air from the freezer into the fridge section.
