I have a problem in my Flash Disk. When I plug it in the USB port, my PC detects it and I can see removable disk (G:) in My Computer. When I double click and open the disk, I can open it normally. BUT...
1. When I try to delete any file from Flash Disk, I can't delete any file. I receive the following error message...
Error Deleting File or Folder Cannot delete : The disk is write-protected. Remove the write-protection or use another disk.
2. When I try to copy a file from Hard Disk to Flash Disk, I can't copy. I receive the following error message...
Error Copying File or Folder Cannot Copy : The disk is write-protected. Remove the write-protection or use another disk.
3. When I try to format the disk from Windows Graphical Mode by right click--->Format, I receive the message...
The disk is write-protected.
4. When I use Command Prompt and give this command ---->Format G:, I receive the following message...
Insert new disk for drive G: and press ENTER when ready... (when I press ENTER, I receive the second message...) The type of the file system is FAT32. Verifying 491M. Cannot format. The volume is write-protected.
5. When I scanned the Flash Disk with Kaspersky 6.0, it detected some viruses and threats, and suggested me to delete the files. When I chose the option to delete them, Kaspersky couldn't delete them and gave the following message...
The Volume is write-protected.
Note that: I don't think that the Flash Disk is corrupted because it is detected by the OS and showing 491 MB capacity. The file system on Flash Disk is also identified by OS as FAT32. When I copy one file From Flash Disk--->To Hard Disk, I can copy it. So I am quite sure that Flash is OK.
Also Note that I have not protected my Flash Disk by any Locking Utility. Previously I was able to open it and to copy/delete files on it
Please help me in this regard. Waiting for your valuable suggestion...

Happened to me once, Try using a different USB port (not via a hub !) OR try searching Google for a device driver for that particular flash disk .
This Flashdisk might be older or newer then the USB port type you put it into (there are currently 3 vesions of USB Ports relating to their speed and bandwidth. They sometimes have different colors)
Hello Sir, hi, If a PC does not recognize your external hard drive, you need first to check if the USB port is working, to check simply plug another USB device such as flash drive, if the port is fine, check to see if the USB port is a version 1.1 or a version 2.0, and look if your external hard drive is compatible or does it needs a DEVICE DRIVER, A USB 2.0 device may work on a USB 1.1, just reduced speed, and last try to see if your PC is the problem and not the Hard drive, have your Hard drive plug on another PC, visit a friend and check if you could use his or her PC to see if your hard drive is bad. Now if you find your hard drive is bad, its either the Interface circuit OR the physical hard disk itself. You can check your hard disk, simply disassemble the unit and gain access to the hard disk. either SATA or IDE, plain Hard disk plug it on your PC. see if you can access the disk. If yes back up your files. your Interface circuit at this point is bad. If your hard drive is bad, buy a new hard drive, as your replacement. keep me posted
I have experienced this type of problem before. But what I did was to install an Avira Anti-virus on a system using windows xp and eventually it did open.
So you can try it as well or insert your flash into any another system that had a strong anti-virus which can enable you scan/format the drive.
The flash disk could be faulty, especially when it draws too much power, and this will cause the USB ports to shut down and the other USB devices won't work until the faulty device is removed.
hi im josh in cebu phils. friend if not detected the problem is you usb port or the flash disk. if you tried using your flash disk in other computer and you are sure that it is functional. then go to your usb port.check the connections.check also the confg.from the device manger if the printer port works. then dont forget that windows 98 and older versions of windows dnt automatcaly detect usb.good luck .
Hi, I am having problem copying or deleting from my Kingston Flash USB 4 flash drive. suddenly I could not delete or even copy anything into the drive. It keeps on indicating your disk is write protected. I have not secured the disk with a password, even then I have this problem....
How can i recover in this problem.
When you have the drive connected,go to your control panel, open up Administrative tools,Computer Management,Disk Management.See if drive is there. If it is, right click in drive space ,assign a drive letter.
If not,scan for new hardware.
You could also look at your usb port handler in your device manager.Update your usb controller, usb handler
