Bought the printer in USA, now living in Norway and they do not have the same ink cart. #, and was told by HP to buy 336 HP black ink and it was compatible, but cannot get it to work.. Any advice?
Ok ill tell you what call in to hp at 1800-474-6836 and tell them about your issue we just need to regionalize the printer. absolutely nothing else . when you call in you will be directed to an agent ask him to regionalize the printer

It looks like your Photosmart 1115 printer uses an HP45 black ink cartridge and an HP78 tri-color cartridge. Some HP printers will accept re-manufactured ink carts, while other HP printers will not...just so you know. I've always bought genuine HP ink cartridges on eBay to save $$$.
I would never use refilled ink. This is a lesson. You can still print, yet the cartridge needs a new "chip" they should have given you when they refilled it. You can try: remove the cart. turn off printer, unplug it, then put old cart back in. Do this three or four times and the memory of the printer can only remember three or four resets and then put refilled cart in. Hope this works for you. I was told this for an HP 7130 (similar, yet older version).

you can try by cleaning the copper contacts on the cart .. and if it works fine with the old cart i.e if it doesnt gives any error with the old ones then possibly the problem might be with the new cart..
i have an hp and find that they (color carts) cannot be refilled- the clever b*st*rds!! they stepped the ink reservoirs so, if you don't insert the re-fill needle 'just right', it bleeds into the others and you end up with a 'muddy' print-out! you need to buy a new hp cart, or shop around for a generic cart (cheaper) google your product & cart #. you may find a source for a cheaper cart. the black carts. can be re-filled! good luck!
Is there a metal wire (clip) hooked on black plastic in the ink carriage? If not, these are notorious for breaking the small plastic hook....when broken, the cartridge is not held in proper postion so printer won't recognize that the ink cartridge is installed......no replacement parts are available for this series of printers.
My Printer is new and I had a problem with Setup. I cannot believe that HP wants to charge
me for inquiring about the defect. I will pack the printer up and return it to the store I
bought it from and never buy HP again.
I have the same problem. I just re-installed all ink cartridges into my printer from the first actual cartridges given to me with the printer and the black ink doesn't work. I contacted HP and they told me that I needed to change my black ink, after I already told them that I have tried 2 new ink cartridges in the system. I went out and bought another one thinking that this would fix the problem, and it didn't. I contacted HP again and I was told that it was the printer that was broken. The actual black ink section was faulty. Since it was a year and a month since I bought the product it was not under warranty, so nothing could be done but to buy another faulty piece of merchandise from HP. I could also service it, but that was never given a price tag. If you want my opinion don't purchase anything from HP again, I know I won't.
