The profiteer kettle is held upright from the gas spring/shock type unit opposite the handle.
It is very common for the spring to wear out and the kettle to sag after time. I see them replaced about every 2-3 years on that model.

Replacing the return spring will bring the kettle back up to it's horizontal popping position.

Buy a new one. Take the defective one, repack it in the old box and return it with the new receipt. Av a cup o tea.
