Problem with OKI ML 395

Hi,
Go to Start->Printers and Faxes or Start->Control Panel->Printer and faxes.
Then right click on your OKI printer and click Set as Default Printer.
Word will now print to this printer.

what is the light show..........is it for ink or triangle light for warning

This printer will print with the Windows Generic/Text driver. It can also be set to print with IBM or Epson FX drivers. Follow these steps:
1. Press on the "SHIFT" Button, while holding it down press the SEL Button. The "SEL" Indicator will light up.
2. On the controll pannel, press the "PARK"
Button. The Printer will print a Setup Page.
The last line that is printed will be what it is
set to - ML or IBM or FX.
3. With the "TEAR" button you can set it to
the driver you want.
4. To save the config you selected, Hold the "SHIFT" Button and press the "SEL" button.
The "SEL" indicator will turn off and save the configuration.

the oki data ml 320 driver should be bundle with the operating system. If not you can download it from okidata website.

Your printer has a damaged mainboard. Very sorry, for yours is a very good unit. the replacement model is the Oki ML-420, which comes with a 3-year warranty.

I think your alignment is out you need to get the printer serviced and aligned.

Enter the menu,
Change Language set to American. It is under symbol sets. Also change code page to usa.

Menu Mode

1. Verify that paper and the ribbon are installed.

2. Power ON the printer.

3. Press SELECT and place the printer OFF-LINE (SELECT will not be lit).

4. Press QUIET to enter Menu Mode.

5. The line shown below will print.

Printer Control Emulation Mode Epson LQ 6. Go to Step A to print the current menu.

Go to Step B to change the menu.

Step A

Press PRINT to print the current Menu.

Press EXIT to exit Menu Mode.

The printer will go ON-LINE. (SELECT will light.)

Step B

Press GROUP to move through the groups of the Menu.

A line prints, showing the Group.

Press ITEM to move through the items in a group.

A line prints, showing the Item.

Press SET to change the setting for an item.

A line prints, showing the Setting.

Press EXIT to exit Menu Mode.

The printer will go ON-LINE. (SELECT will light.)

Yes quite possible pin broke on head, check ribbon is fitted correctly and has plastic sheild on front of it intact

Check the receive buffer on the Oki. I usually set it to the highest (88k or 128k). You might also check the print head gap if you are printing multi part invoices. If the print head is too close it may overheat and stop printing. If you have a different printer, swap it out and see if it prints correctly. It may be a problem with the JetDirect 170x, not the printer.

Your printhead is in correctly but not aligned, Please loosen the 2 screws that holds the printhead.Remove ribbon(all this while the printer is powered off) Now look on the right side there is a lever that makes the printer go closer to the ribbon ,move the lever to number 9 and move the head over to the left side of the printer.push the head forward slightly towards the black roller and tighten the 2 screws again ,install the ribbon and move the blue lever to 1 and try printing again.
