Question about Sony DVP-NS55P DVD Player
I have had my sony dvd player for about six years now and recently I started using it as the cd player for my audio system as well as a dvd player. The player has no trouble playing dvd's, but for some reason it has a tendency to get stuck while playing audio cd's. Sometimes the pause will only last 15 or 30 seconds before it starts playing again on its own, and sometimes it freezes completely and I have to power it down and restart the cd. The freezes appear to be completely random, and have nothing to do with the cd, or where it is in the song. The problem happens with burned and original cd's, and with brand new and old cd's alike. Again, this does not happen while playing dvd's. Please help.
You tried cleaning the lens right? That's the first thing I would do. You may have to actually open up the unit and use some windex on a cotton swap to clean the lens. Be very careful not to overwet the cotton swab. Use the other end of the swab to dry the lens.
The red wavelength of light from the laser might not be getting through the lens properly, which is used for the Audio CDs, where the higher frequency laser is used for the DVD material.

Is your cds all scratch ?, I will tried to clean the disc first.Dvd lasers are more sensitive than cd players.Unless, you have the very first one Sony come out with, which my opinion, the best built machine ever made.I know, I have three of them, interested in buying one?It have dual laser ,one for cds, one for dvds. What are they? the very famous DVP-s7000(I got 2),and its brother DVP-s7700(1)
