Brother SE-270D sewing machine bobbin won't wind

This is a used machine I have had for over 3 years with no problems. Today, while winding my bobbin, the bobbin stopped turning. I could hear the motor still turning, but the bobbin iself wouldn't turn. Is there anything I can do or am I doomed to an expensive repair shop that I cannot afford?

Mine did the same thing. Took the bobbin off and pushed it over and it ran fine. I looked at it closely and found that the little gray piece that shuts the bobbin off when its full got moved over. gently move the gray piece to the right and see if it will load. mine did. I just moved it until the bobbin was full.

The rubber ring on the bobbin winder has probably gone bad which would mean replacing it but you can buy a portable bobbin winder called a sidewinder for around 20.00

Go here: http://www.sewingpartsonline.com/ You can purchase a new "tire" for your winder. It's a pain to take the machine apart, but CAN be done!

I looked but couldn't find the part there. Not sure of what to look for.

Find your model and then look for the part You're probably going to need to replace the entire bobbin winder ($18.99 Bobbin Winder #XC3601121). Thanks to your post, I know what I'm looking for :). Mine started doing the same thing just when I decided to use it again...

Bobbin winder stopped working

The winder ring has most likely broken or come off. This part is not easily installed by a home user as the machine has to the taken apart to replace it.

Why does the needle move as though it is sewing when I wind a bobbin

Unlikely that a belt is broken. It is more likely that you don't have the bobbin spindle fully pushed to the right. Or worst case is that something inside, under the bobbin winder is broken.

I have the Brother SE270D and when I was winding the bobbin the thread somehow slipped under the bobbin and was wound around the peg under the bobbin winding area. I thought I could remove the screws and...

You can either take the machine in for repairs or, use another sewing machine (if you have one that uses the same type of bobbin) for bobbin winding or purchase a Sidewinder Bobbin Winder - search the Internet for the best price.

Bobin winder won't wind

Check your manual to be sure your are setting up as you should.

If the winder still does not work, you can take it to a dealer for repair and pay out around $80, or purchase the SideWinder bobbin winder for less than $30. I have seen them for less than $20 at Hancock Fabric.

I have one that I use from time to time and it does a very good job. I really did not need it....just can't pass up a new notion.

My white thread from bobbin shows thru embroidery

flip your bobbin

when I hold my bobbib in my right hand and pull the thread with my left hand the bobbin spins counter clockwise, this is how i put it in the machine

Do you wind your own bobbins if so make sure you wind evenly

I order a box of 100 pre wound bobbins from Brother

Problem With Winding The Bobbin

You should put the speed controller all the way to the right to the fast setting and push the start/stop button once. If an animation comes up on the LCD then touch the LCD and then press the start/stop button again. The bobbin should start winding. Good luck. Any questions feel free to ask. Please rate me so I know if I helped you. Thanks.
