That errors means the autopilot is trying to move the rudder but it thinks its not moving. If you can manually move the rudder in standby mode with the green or red buttons on the 511, then the problem is typically with the rudder feedback unit. i.e. the rudder is moving but the only way the pilot knows it is if the signal changes from the rudder feedback unit.

If you can't make the pump work with the arrows (or anything else) then the problem lies with the pump. Check 12VDC to the pump and the connection to the processor.

I am getting an error message of E 511 what does this mean and how do i fix it? can it be bypasses? how do i reset the unit? Thanks

Hi Collin,
E511 is a TR0 Sensor Fault. This is commonly caused by:

Photoconductor Unit
SENSOR TR-0
HARNESS-ASSY XERO
MOTOR ASSY P/R
HARNESS ASSY MAIN
PWBA MCU
LV/HVPS

This is not Diy, I've advice you to send the unit to your local Epson Service center.

Hope it may help you.
Have a nice day!

My furuno autopilot 511 has a rudder reference unit which worked and then stopped displaying rudder position. I assumed it broke and replaced it. I still get no display. How can I clear the unit. I had a...

the rudder setup needs to be done. follow prompts, very common to be screwed up, read directions carefully and make sure that if it says steer hard starboard, it is hard starboard before you proceed! 847-746-0100

Linear rudder refernce Furuno 500 auto pilot will not pass test?

light on board is probably normal no, this is an inductive pickup, can not test with ohmeter, sorry. Test with display, observing rudder angle display. Do rudder setup repeatedly until it works, it is a little fussy for placement and clearance but patience and the correct "bracketry" will make this pilot perform great.

Error 511

It means the 3 pins for that fan are not working on motherboard . I suggest you use the motherboard 3 pins for the chasis fan and buy a CPU fan with 4 pin setting that connects to your power supply ( much better current )

Disc removal

This is what LG customer service will instruct you to do. I have a LG LDA-511:

1. Unplug your unit.
2. After unplugging, wait a few seconds then press and hold the power button (yes, while the unit is unplugged). This resets the unit.
3. Plug in your unit.
4. Press the eject button.

If the disc does not come out, then you need service from an authorized service representative.
