How do I open the front panel of GE Spacemaker 2.0 ? Fuse?

Microwave won't heat. Anyone know how to get the front panel off to find the fuse? Model jvm2070

  • fstein Jun 16, 2009

My Spacemaker 2.0 has a funky door that opens when turned on for the vent. But I don't see any screws behind that door. Unless I have to pull the Microwave out to see the screws. Any idea?

There are screws either on top of or in the grille that allow you to remove it. after screws are removed, open the door, pull lightly toward you starting at the control side if it does not pull, then it may have to be pushed toward the hinge side, then pulled out. behind the grille, is the screw attaching the control panel. lift the panel up before pulling out. Just to add a thought,if the display lights up it is probably not the fuse, although, in some models there is a high voltage fuse, it is pretty rare.

Model # jvm1340aw003 I think it has blown a fuse? Where do I find the appliance fuse in the microwave? My email address: [email protected] Thank you in advance for your help, Mike

If the microwave control panel doesn't light up, then your fuse is blown. unplug the microwave. unscrew the vent grill, (2) screws at the top of the microwave. then you should see 1 screw holding the control panel. after removing that screw, gently push up then out. there should be a metal plate on top of the control panel. remove that plate and the fuse will be in that opening. remove the fuse and check for continuity across the fuse. Replace fuse and plug microwave back in. control panel should light up.

My spacemaker stopped working and no panel lights. It's not the circuit breaker. Any ideas? model JVM140001

Could be the fuse inside the microwave is blown. You will need to unplug the microwave and remove the front control panel. Inisde the microwave housing you will need to trace the electrical wire coming into the unit. Usually you will find the in-line fuse located on the black power wire. You can pull the connectors off the fuse and test it with a continuity tester. If the fuse is blown replace it but make sure you use the same amp rated fuse as you removed. If the fuse blows again then there is an electrical short somewhere in the microwave.

How do i change the heating fuse for a ge spacemaker microwave

unplug first, take three screws out of top vent cover and there may even be some on the top cabinet holding vent cover on front, then you might see fuse holder just behind vent cover, if not remove screw(s) holding touch pad on, then slide touch panel up and out. it will rest on hinge, then you should see fuse holder inside behind touch panel. BE SURE TO UNPLUG FIRST AS ELECTRICITY CAL KILL YOU.

Everything works except heat

Sounds like you've had a failure in the microwave portion of the unit.

Microwave not heating problems when the timer/controller board appears to function properly, are related to the following components -

1) Diode
2) Capacitor
3) Transformer
4) Magnetron

My Ge SpaceMaker XL1800 Microwave Oven won't power on any more.

1.Check power outlet for working.
2.If it is than you have broken fuse inside the m/w.
3. To change the fuse you have to disconnect the power to m/w, take the upper grill off, take the screw on top of control panel, lift the control panel up and removed. The 20 Am fuse located behind this panel.
