I am typing and nothing is printing. Printer wheel is working and the ribbon is ok
SOURCE: hammer doesn't strike
Try taking the wheel out and aliging it with the piece in the middle with a hole in it so that the pin and the wheel connect when you push the lever forward to connect the wheel to the disk.

could be the ribbon is not lifting, do you see an image on the ribbon, also may be twisted inside the cartridge the shiny side has to be facing the keyboard.
SOURCE: Not typing any letters
the printhammer/wheel may not be latched into place. there is a black lever on the right side of the printhammer. you pull it towards you to remove the printwheel and forward to latch it into place. otherwise the machine will probably need repair, or just go to a thrift shop and you can pick one up for $10 to $25 dollars. just plug it in and try before you buy.

Something else you might check, I was having same problem. Make sure the Daisy Wheel Lock Lever (check the description that comes in the guide) is locked in place, i.e., push it forward to lock. It is the black thing that sticks up on the right inside the correction tape. I did this and words started appearing. Hope it helps.
SOURCE: My typewriter doesn't type..won't display letters, but keys work.
alot of the brother t/w's have 2 cam assemblies under ribbon holder. 1 operates the print hammer and 1 operates the correction ribbon lift. sometimes these will hang or lockup. sometimes turning on and off a few times will take care of it, but sometimes it needs to be worked on by a t/w tech. if you look when you type a character, most likely the print hammer is not firing or it is striking the correction ribbon instead of the black ribbon.
