36VDC Indoor split in a 240VAC country

I was wondering if someone can help me with an Air conditioner installation problem that I have. I have some LG split AC indoor units rated at 36VDC. The outdoor units I have are all rated at 240VAC as the power here in Africa is 240VAC. When I look in the manual for the indoor units, it says the outdoor units that come with them are 120VAC. Can these units be installed on the 240VAC outdoors that I have here? Thanks in advance for all your help.

If you use the correct inverter and transformers
best if you just get new units designed to run in that country

Check the disconnect switch and make sure that both the fuses are good and not shot. If one is shot then the system wont work. There are two fuse. Also be careful due to you will be working around 210 volts

SOURCE: Airforce 12000BTU Air Conditioner wiring problem

The outdoor unit should have 2 small wires connected to the contactor coil. This delivers the 24v "Signal" to energize the coil. The wire from the t'stat for cooling are usually yellow, in almost every case. When you put the t'stat in the cooling mode and set the temp lower than the room temp, the indoor and outdoor unit should come on. Check for voltage on the terminal block for 24 volts accross the yellow and common wire. Common could be ground on some handlers. If you have the 24 volts, then check for 24v on the 2 small wires (usually 18 to 22 gage wire) on the contactor coil. If no voltage, trace the 2 wires back to the indoor unit and see where they go. If they are the ones that are not attached, put one on the yellow wire terminal and the other on the common terminal. This will send power to the indoor unit and then piggyback to the outdoor unit. Do not remove the yellow and common from the terminal block. Don't be too concerned about the colors from the outdoor coil wires. Just make sure they are hooked up right. Good Luck and hope this gets it going.

SOURCE: LG split (3 indoor) LMU360CE

The LED #2 is only flashing while in disconnection or short in Thermistor (3 sec off / 0.5 sec on). If you want to change it, note: this is not an easy job to do! You will need to remove the top panel, then remove the control paneland then the front panel to gain access to the thermistor. The part isnot available to the public and requires an authorized service techfrom LG to take care of this problem. You will need a special tool toremove the front door seal spring clamp.
But you can call customer service @ 800 243 000 and see if theycan transfer you over to parts. Just give them the model and serial #and see if they would be willing to sell you the thermistor part. Youwill also need the door seal spring clamp removal tool to make the jobeasier.

36VDC Split Air Conditioner indoor unit in a 240VAC country

Will not work. If you plug in a 120 volt appliance into a mains that is ordinarily 240 volts, you will destroy/burn up the unit. If you use a step down transformer - 240 to 120 you can then use the appliances - just make sure that it is a large transformer that can handle the large current (s) involved.

Installed LG split system. The unit does not

Any chance that you've got L1 and L2 hooked up to the same leg of the main? That would still give you 120 on each but not 240 from L1 to L2 like it should be. I'm not familiar with the LG system, but I would think that a comm line would have two wires.
