The stator is stationary mounted to the outer tub the rotor attaches to the spindle of the basket which is a shaft that goes thru a bearing to get a definitive answer remove the back panel remove the rotor turn the center bolt till it loosens keep going as this will back the rotor off the stator you will have to pull with a little effort strong magnets to get it off now try to spin the basket by hand if stiff you have a bad tub bearing.

SOURCE: LG washer wm1832c

I had the same error code along with the drum "freezing" up. The first unit that was delivered 2 years ago leaked water from the detergent compartment and they sent a second unit. I have only had this unit for 2 years and I am very disappointed in the LG product. LG was no help on the phone and I the only people that could service it were 45min away from were I live. I took the advice of a posting on this website that it could be a part called the sensor assembly (#6501KW2002A) and ordered it from an online electronics store (www.mcminone.com). To get to the sensor assembly, you first unplug and take off the back plate that has 4 small screws. Next, unscrew the big bolt in the middle and take off the hubcap looking part the bolt was securing. Next unclip the two sets of wires on the bottom of the circle you are looking at (the set of wires to the right are connected to the sensor assembly you want to replace). Next you will unscrew the 6 or so smaller bolts to take off the circular piece that the sensor assembly is snapped to. Take it off, unclip the old sensor assembly and clip on the new one – and reassemble. This worked perfectly for me and the part only cost $18 bucks plus shipping. When working, this product works well but I will not be purchasing any LG products in the future.

SOURCE: maytag performa washer

Hi Folks,

I'm guessing both of these problems are related to the belt slipping. There are several points to check.

  1. the belt tension. I'm not familiar with the exact details of your machines, but the usually have a an extra pulley with a spring attached to give the belt tension. Alternatively, the motor is mounted on a movable frame that is held by some springs. These springs give the belt tension. In either case check the freedom of movement of the tensioning arrangement and the springs are providing the necessary tension to the belt.
  2. Glazed belt/pulley - if the belt has been slipping it will polish the pulleys and this will reduce the friction necessary to drive the machine. To fix this the belt should be replaced and the pulley surfaces roughed up with some wet/dry emery paper (not too rough or it will wear your new belt out).
  3. Belt is too old - the rubber becomes hard and brittle and ends up with the same effect as Glazed belt/pulley above. The fix is as per 2 above.
Good luck

SOURCE: VERY LOUD GRINDING NOISE LG WM-2277HW Front Load Washer

Get a new washer. Perhaps another brand.

The fix for me was to get a new washer. Had same issue with loud spin cycle. Tried researching while wife was continuing use of washer. Then the LE message appeared.

Took back apart and found that water had leaked and caused a boat load of damage. Bearings shot, seal leaks, drum leaks, Stator damaged. Same issue as 'jammy64' stated.

Cost to repair wasn't worth it. Going to get an
Electrolux model.

My lg front loader wont spin

If the machine does not spin then either the stator or rotor assemblies are faulty. If the rotor or stator fails or is damaged the washer might not spin or agitate.

8 YEAR OLD LG FRONT LOAD WASHER WONT SPIN OR DRAIN

If the washer won't spin the stator or rotor assemblies at the back of the washer tub might be bad or damaged. The rotor is essentially one half of a motor, it interacts with the tub by creating a strong electro-magnet. If the rotor fails or is damaged the washer might not spin or agitate. Check the rotor for damaged magnets or other defects

Machine won't spin

No spin, try these:

Using a multi meter check for continuity the door switch, which when bad may not allow agitation or spin. The lid switch assembly can fail either mechanically or electrically.

Check the clutch, brake assembly and transmission, one way to check for slipping is to get under the machine after a spin cycle ( this is if u get a lil spin but not much leaving clothes still wet) mix in a spray bottle a lil water and some dish detergent, then spray it on the clutch assembly ( the metal round pc. Connected to the tranny) if it sizzles and steams up then u know its bad and slipping. Another way to check clutch if u get no spin at all? Is to take it out and use ur hand to try and turn the inner spring assembly pushing it around the inside? If its very easy, it BAD should be hard to push by hand.

Next check the motor coupler which engages the tub and tranny to the motor. ( if its bad u usually get no wash or spin or very little of either)

Next check for a loose, worn or broken belt if belt driven.

On some front load models u may need to check the STATOR assembly.
The stator is essentially one half of a motor, it interacts with the tub by creating a strong electro-magnet. If the stator burns out the washer won't spin or agitate. Check the stator for continuity. This part is often misdiagnosed.

Spin cycle isnt spinning. it will spin slowly during rinse but not spin cycle

Are you receiving a "LE" error code on the display? If so, you'll possibly need a Hall sensor or Stator assembly replacement. If you have your units date of purchase, it will possibly fall under the 7 or 10 year warranty on the direct drive assembly which includes hall sensor/stator/ and the rotor.

You can refer to LG for service if you'd like.

Model LGWM2277H purchased 2005 - Since 3/19/10 LE Code Continues

Hi,

LE code stands for locked motor error. When this error code appears in your front load washer it indicates a fault in the motor unit.

1 . Check the connections to the Coil/Stator at the rear of the unit possibly it should be something like a broken wire.

2 . Coil/Stator Assembly will be defective preventing the drive to operate. You should go for a replacement of that assembly.

Thank you !!

I have a lg front load wash machine that fills with water but will not spin. You can hear the motor try to spin but it seems stuck. The test on the display came up error code nE

I think you mean, LE error code, as there is no nE error code, their codes display are strange.

Locked motor error. Cause: The connector (3-pin), male, white) in the motor harness is not connected to the connector. (3-pin,female,white) of stator assembly. Or the electrical contact between the connectors. (3-pin,male,white) in the motor harness and 4-pin,female,white connector in the main PWB assembly is bad or unstable. Or the motor harness between the stator assembly and main PWB assembly is cut (open circuit) Or the hall sensor is out of order/defective.
