I used the wrong toner in my aficio 200. I bought the correct toner and thoroughly cleaned the old toner out. I put in a new canister of the proper toner but now I am getting clean blank pages with no imprint. The machine is not recognizing the new toner. I took the toner cartridge out completely but the machine still will not come up with no toner light. I am guessing the toner needs to be primed in some way. Is there a trick to getting it to load toner?
When you say you cleaned the toner "entirely out", does that mean you removed the drum (photoconductor unit) also, and cleaned it out until there was no powder left inside? I bet you did....here's what you've done now, you see, the toner in that machine is what is known as "dual component" vs. "mono component" in many other machines. What this means is that the toner is 'carried' by another product called "developer" in that machine. Guess where the developer is contained?.....inside the drum unit. You have cleaned all the developer out, and so there is no carrier for the toner. Now you'll need to replace the entire photoconductor unit, because you can't get the developer alone -and "yes" like toner they are all different. It's turning into a costly experiment. Bye the way. The toner for that machine is cheap - maybe $50 a bottle for the OEM (depends where you are)?, and generic versions tend not to work well in Ricoh. It lasts for about 8000 pages - that's cheap copying if you do the math - but not now.
