DAV-DZ260 + KDL-32V4000 - no audio from TV to DAV via HDMI

I have Sony DAV-DZ260 and Bravia KDL-32V4000 in UK bought as a special offer package (but they don't include the HDMI cable !!). With HDMI cable only then everything works OK except when TV selected on DAV as input (function) the TV speakers are cut off but audio does not come through the DAV. HDMI control is working because logo shows on DAV LCD and TV speakers only cut when DAV is powered. Spent hours with manuals to no avail. Any ideas please ??

Sounds good fix but there is no menu option (I can find) to select DTS.

DTS is mentioned in Glossary but that is all.
Have checked HDMI cable and it is all connections good.

Check DAV amp menu and select DTS surround or any other digital sound option.

Hi - we lost the screws to fix our sony bravia kdl-32v4000 to the table top stand in a move - can you tell me where I can get the 3 screws needed - thanks

I am guessing the screw size is M6/16mm , based on Sony official page for your TV:
http://www.sony.co.uk/product/tv-80-32-lcd/kdl-32v4000/technical-specifications#tab

Lowes or Home Depot or Ace Hardware (I prefer the latter for more knowledgeable employees). If no hardware stores nearby, try Sears or Best Buy (you may need to ask more than one person, don't give up too easily). If visiting a hardware store, you may have to look in the 'roofing' screw bins or nearby to find the right size.

You might also look for TV mounting kits that have that size screw, but you'd probably pay much more than finding the screws alone at a hardware store.

How do I get a US Sony Bravia KDL-42V4100 to work in the UK?

I have encountered this before---there are set top boxes that will convert the NTSC to PAL and the only other concern is the line voltage being the same or not.

I have a 40in sonybravia KDL 40v4100, 1080p. No hdmi and audio w

HDMI is a video AND audio cable. It carries both at the same time. Typically with a laptop, you have to go into your audio settings and indicate HDMI audio enabled / set ON or whatever your software has. If you use a VGA connection, then you would use a separate audio hookup say from the earphone out on the laptop to the VGA's audio input port on the HDTV. Its all in the settings on the HDMI capable laptop.

No sound on pc connection

HDMI outputs from devices such as DVD players do carry both video and audio, but the HDMI output from your computer video card only carries video. You'll need to connect a cable from the computer sound output to the TV as well.

Manual

From your profile I worked out you're in the UK (product numbers differ the world over!).

For future reference: go to www.sony.co.uk, and click the support tab at the top of the page - and again click support in the popup. Use browse by category to find your TV (LCD - Bravia). Manuals are here:

Audio via hdmi

Have you tried to hook up your DVD player directly to the surround sound system? If you direct the sound through the TV, it has to pass several circuits and the quality will be lover. Just connect it right away to your sound system. :-)
