Every car brand and model has its procedure to stop the flashing light and alarm sounding.
But still the common procedure is Make sure boot and bonnet are closed properly.
It can also be a switch, but check your alarm by locking yourself inside the car, and then press the close button on the key 2 times repeatedly until the lock control on the door doesn't make anything. Then open the door by pushing the lever or open the hood . If the horn sounds and the lights blink your alarm is ok , if only the lights blink you should take it to dealer. You can stop the hazard lights and horn sound by pressing the unlock button on the key.
Stop what from happening exactly? the hazards from flashing? or the alarm sound from NOT happening?
I'll go with the alarm, cuz at least that makes sense. In this case it is likely that the speaker for the alarm has broken or shorted. Check the fuse, and the speaker if you can locate it.
Had a new Lincoln Mark 7, battery was bad from beginning and would trigger alarm when it shorted at random. In your case, outside radio waves may trigger alarm if shielding was removed from alarm antenna.
There is a short in the connections so the hazard lights are flashing.
The hazard flashers may begin flashing by themselves or the turn signals may flash at twice the normal speed due to condensation shorting out the circuit board.---------Have you tried disconnecting the car battery, then turning the ignition on and reconnecting the battery? If not then please try this and check. And see if that makes any difference in the problem or solves the problem.---------Also you can try disabling the hazards from flashing. To stop the hazards flashing pull the hazard switch out (pull the gear leaver gaiter out then you can put your fingers under the switch and push it out) then you will see a single wire in a black sleeving, cut this wire and this will stop them flashing. Also the alarm is behind the glove-box if you want to unplug it there.-----------Keep updated for anymore query.Thanks.
your mechanic has only given you part of a possible solution...lock the car with the key and hold over for 30 secs then take key out, wait 30 secs then unlock/hold key over for 30 secs, the windows may go down. then use the remote to lock car holding down the button for 30 secs..... this resets the system
does this car have an aftermarket alarm system? it sounds like it does, as i dont ever recall seeing a blue flashing light in one of these cars. do you have an alarm / auto start remote control? try locking / unlocking the car several times with the remote, if it has a remote start try starting it with the remote a few times. try locking / unlocking the car with the key. good luck!
Your car thinks a door is open , thus the light stays on. When you lock the doors with the remote it activates the alarm system. 10 sec later it senses that the a door is open and alarm sounds.
I have a 99 passat as well and I just went outside to see where the switch on the door is. Can't see one anywhere , it must be inside the door (part of the latch mechanism). I tried to arm the alarm system by locking the doors with the remote while the door was still open , sure enough the alarm went off about 15 secs later.
need to reset ur car alarm, once battery dies down and u boost her up, the car alarm becomes activated. Just shut off the alarm like u usually do before starting ur car.
